Haye/Harrison weigh-in open to public on first come, first served basis This content is protected WBA world heavyweight champion David 'The Hayemaker' Haye has only 1,000 tickets available for his Friday afternoon weigh-in with Audley Harrison - and the Manchester public are invited to snap them up quickly. The tickets are free of charge and will allow entry to Friday's pre-fight weigh-in at The Lowry Theatre in Salford Quays. The weigh-in begins at 2 pm and tickets will be distributed from The Lowry Theatre Box Office on a first come, first served basis. Promising a surprise of sorts, champion Haye said, If there is one weigh-in not to miss, it's going to be this one. It's not often you get two heavyweights in decent nick going up against each other, but, so long as Audley is true to his word, that should be the case on Friday. As far as I'm concerned, this is the best condition I've ever been in. In fact, I think a lot of people are in for a shock when I hit the scales on Friday. PRE-FIGHT WEIGH-IN DETAILS Date: Friday, November 12Time: 14:00 to 15:00 Location: The Lowry: Art and Entertainment Centre, Pier 8, Salford Quays, Greater Manchester M50 3AZ
In my opinion the only remote possibility audley has of winning is if he gets hurt badly by haye. I know that sounds stupid but haye is reckless when he goes in to kill of opponents and leaves himself wide open. If audley has prepared as much as he says he has, I would hope he has got better at surviving once hurt. Because if he has there is a possibilty he could land a big left on a wide open Haye when he comes in for the kill. personally, i don't see it ever happening but i can't see any other way he has even the smalest chance. I pick Haye for a stoppage between 5-8
“As far as I'm concerned, this is the best condition I've ever been in. In fact, I think a lot of people are in for a shock when I hit the scales on Friday.” What does he mean with that??? will he be less then 15.4 ???
Was it not Audley that said that? If not perhaps he means overall, combination of size/strength/bodyfat/not being drained etc.
In Defence of Haye-Harrison http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/11112010/58/pugilist-defence-haye-harrison.html "On Saturday in Manchester, David Haye defends his WBA title against Audley Harrison. It will be the highest grossing prizefight ever held on these shores. The arena is sold out, the nation is talking and the cameras are ready to roll. And a lot of boxing fans aren't happy about it. The charges are that Haye is ducking the Klitschko brothers, that the Harrison fight is a mismatch being foisted on a gullible public, and that Haye is devaluing the great traditions of heavyweight boxing. Above all, it is said, Haye-Harrison is bad for boxing. The critics could not be more wrong. They think boxing's decline can be abated just by matching good fighters in tough, competitive fights. No: Haye-Harrison is exactly what British boxing needs."
Well we'll see I guess but I wonder when 20,000 leave the MEN feeling once again short changed, just how many of them could lose interest in the sport and interest in Haye's next fight? Sky are banking on the gullible public forgetting this mismatch when they try to sell their next pay per view event. And what if Audley Harrison gets seriously hurt in this fight as I actually fear he might? The bloke's nearly 40 years old and apart from the odd wild punch against poor to average domestic journeymen what exactly has he done in a professional boxing ring? Haye's one of the fastest, most devestating punchers in boxing today, hardly the ideal opponent for a delusional, gun-shy Harrison. This fight may have put boxing in the spotlight temporarily but what damage it could do to the sport in this country if things go badly? Boxing's decline is largely due to ridiculous mismatches like this. They might make the boxers and promoters money in the short term but at what cost of the sport? Sky have proven over the past few weeks that there's an interest in boxing. Unfortunately what Joe public will be spending £15 on come Saturday night isn't a world class professional boxing matchup.
Today they will show behind the ropes a haye and audley exclusive behind the scenes does anyone now how late it starts on sky??
Nah noone should under estimate Harrison but we all know who is going to win the fight.... Hayemaker! G
Booth - It's been so smooth No injuries or interruptions for WBA champion, says Booth Last updated: 11th November 2010 This content is protected Booth: training has been perfect I know how fast and how hard David hits. I've said all along, Audley is going to get and numbed by shots he just doesn't see. known David Haye be in better shape ahead of a fight. The WBA heavyweight champion's trainer revealed it is the first time for a while that they have been able to prepare 100 per cent, without any interruption. "This training camp is the best he's ever had," Booth This content is protected told Sky Sports News. "For once we've managed to get onto this stage without any injuries or problems. "We've been able to do anything; we haven't had to compromise on sparring, on running, on conditioning sessions, on padwork. Normally we have to drop sessions, take two or three days of because of an injury or an illness - and it happens all the time. "The only time he's had an uninterrupted training camp was before the Enzo Maccarinelli fight. But this time he's more experienced, he's been the cruiserweight and is the heavyweight world champion and he's a more complete fighter as well." Hypnotised Even so, Booth is treating the Harrison with the utmost respect. He says the unflinching faith he has put in himself and the fact that he so badly wants to beat his former friend, makes him more of a threat than his up-and-down record suggests. But he still says that will not be enough to take Haye's title away from him. "He's an 18-stone man with a lot of pride and more importantly, a lot of desire in this fight," he said. "He's putting himself into a trance, he's hypnotised himself over the past few weeks to become the character he needs to be for this fight. "I expect him to be a big threat and I expect it to be a very tense affair. "Because he's put himself in a trance and surrounded himself with all those positive mantras, David's challenge firstly is to wake him up from that so he becomes the Audley he really is - and then put him to sleep. "I know how fast and how hard David hits. I've said all along, Audley is going to get and numbed by shots he just doesn't see. I truly believe that with every cell in my body."
