Sky Box Office: Value for Money?

They're all value for money except Khan vs Prescott. I don't know why that was on PPV.

 

Khan - Salita wasn't worth £1, let alone 15.

Wasn't that the one where Sky decided they were out of time and had to close the show rather than show any undercard fights, even though the fight ended in the first round?

 

Chipped in for the Mayweather/Hatton fight. Well worth the money imho.

Payed for the Hatton/Pacman fight. Stayed up 6 hours for 6 minutes. Say's it all really.

Magnificent Seven was alright.

 

Mayweather vs Hatton and Haye vs Valuev didn't have a single good fight on the card beside the main events.

Mag 7 was great but no marquee names.

 

haye valuev and haye harrison are free to air on satelite in germany picked up legal and free in the uk

so is paying a monthly and a PPV tag good value for those you decide ?

 

I thought Hatton-Lazcano was absolutely terrible, the whole card. Watching Malignaggi trying to overcome his hair extensions dilemma was about as good as it got.

 

Question here and if any of ye can help. Why do the Germans prefer having fights on German terrestrial tv. They never do PPV. Is it a better business model or is it simply a case of the promoters in Britian primarily wanting to have the fights on terrestrial tv but the interest is not there so they have to go ppv. I seem to remember hearing that Froch-Pascal got 6-7 million viewers on ITV that night.

 

Its because Germans are smart and cheap. They would never pay 14.95 quid for some bull**** fight. Never.

Germans hate paying for anything. The only thing they spend money on is their big cars and loads of booze on their Italy/Spain vacations.

 

6-7 million was not the actual number. was more like 4mil. Which is great viewers but viewers mean nothing. They want advertising sales.

Advertisers in the UK wan't women. In Germany they still wan't men. its fair to say boxing is viewed mostly by lower classes, who therefore have a lower desposible income.

 

but they still pay 50euros to watch Klitskcos jab people for an hour with no undercard???

The only fights I got in live were all the Haton fights and Haye's two World title fights. Sadly being out of work means that that extra £15 or €22 euro rules me out of it so I am left to watching the fights by different means.
Skys prices are too much on top of the subs they charge a year. No PPV on Sky should be priced at that amount of money but with Sky , Promotors and fighters all wanting a huge slice of the PPV sales this is what we are paying extra for to all parties involved. IF they were to drop the prices they would get bigger numbers.

 

Looking at the list makes you realise how odd it is that they don't scale the prices. Hatton-Mayweather is the same price as Khan-Salita. Crazy.

 

Hatton v Lazcano should not of been PPV material.

de la Hoya v Pacquiao / Khan v ***an? that was a joke, Khan got signed a 4 fight deal, but got knocked out in his first fight, so because he still had that deal with Sky, and he needed easing back in after a devastating knockout, they put him in against a scrub, but they made sure it was on the same night as de la Hoya v Pacquiao so they could sell the PPV.
