Former world champion working out as part of rehab


Ricky Hatton has lost two stone in weight as he continues his battle against drink and drug addiction.
The former two-weight world champion checked into rehab following allegations of cocaine abuse earlier this year.
The light-welterweight, who is currently suspended from fighting although it remains unlikely he will ever return to the ring, notoriously ballooned in weight between bouts and was reportedly at 14 stone this year.

has started working out and, according to father Ray, has quickly dropped excess weight and is returning to his former self.
"He's fine at the moment, he's working out at his own gym at home, his coming in to the gym here and working out with the other boxers here," he toldSky Sports News.
"To date he's lost well over two stone, he's looking very relaxed and he's getting back to his old self.
"He's got a bit of a spring in his step, working back here and giving a little advice and obviously he's feeling a lot fitter."

Ricky Hatton has revealed that son Ricky is "getting back to his old self" and he is refusing to rule out the possibility of the former two-weight champion making a ring comeback.
After a video allegedly showing Ricky snorting cocaine was brought to light in the News of the World in September, the fighter checked into rehab with severe depression before having his boxing licence stripped by the British Boxing Board of Control.
Memories of Ricky's last fight are not fond ones - he was savagely knocked out inside two rounds in a devastating defeat at the hands of Filipino Manny Pacquiao in May 2009. But Hatton Snr believes his son is getting back on track, both mentally and physically.
"He's fine at the moment, he's working out in his home gym and he's actually coming into the gym and working out every day alongside the other boxers," he told Sky Sports.
"As of today he's lost well over two stones, he's looking really good and very relaxed. He's getting back to his old self, his sense of humour's there and he's got that little spring in his step. I think working with some of the lads here and giving them a bit of advice and obviously he's feeling a bit fitter." When asked whether he expects Ricky to return to the ring, he said: "I don't know. Ricky will be the one that makes his mind up. At the moment we're just happy we're seeing Ricky Hatton back and there's a buzz in the gym and just having his presence here and the little bit of advice he's doing."

 

I thought he had his boxing license stripped off of him?
i take it he would put in a new application to get it back? but would it be that easy?

It depends, i mean if he got back into shape etc he could come back for one final fight and go out on a win, i saw something on the internet saying he was talking about junior witter, i think personally he should stay out of the ring, but at the end of the day thats down to him, but we got to remember that all this has been said before.
