I wouldn't be surprised if champizhere pissed and **** in a bowl every morning and call it his breakfast. He didn't have any problems getting down to this weight. He started training 3 week earlier before Margarito. The man looks in fighting shape, NOT DRAINED. By fight night he's probably going to out weight Pacquiao by 13 to 20 lbs, and this is an advantage for Pacquiao, why??? :bbbhey
Waah waaah he moved up in weight so he's on PEDS waaah waaaaah he didn't put on weight so it's unfair SHUT THE **** UP
This thread is stupid even by the general standards. So Pacquiao weighing in miles under the limit is somehow further disadvantaging a career welterweight weighing in at 150. Brilliant logic. Margarito is going to out weigh Pacquaio by 15 pounds come fight time, and he shouldn't be weight drained considering he fought at 147 for most of his career and is probably well aware of the limits of his body in relation to draining. If anything this validates the fight entirely, its a great little man verse a good, relentless big man, a junior welterweight vs a junior middleweight.
To me it's a rule infraction. I don't have a problem with catchweight fights but they should be a separate category. I just don't think it sounds right to say a welterweight beat a light middleweight for a lmw belt OR vice versa. That's like saying a 4th grader passed 5th grade just by taking ONE test. There's a large amount of merit that's missing. But that's just me. If this is a new trend or a system change then I guess, say, Soto could weigh 135 lbs and fight/beat Pacquiao for a welterweight title. Multiple belts in general are bull****. I'm a firm believer that there should be just one belt for each class. As for Marg's illegal actions, it just means he's desperate for a payday. Nobody put a gun to his head to sign the contract for a catchweight fight. But c'mon...do you really think a desperate man would turn down a $6 million payday? Cotto, Marg, and I can just about assume Pac's other future opponents was/will be strong-armed into making a sacrifice because the money would be so lucrative. Good for the fighters, but bad for the fans.
You seem to be confusing the bull**** associated with fighting in between two weight limits with small men beating bigger men for titles, which has always occurred throughout boxing history. If you can weigh-in under a division limit you are as deserving as anyone, being several pounds below the limit is a handicap, not an advantage, so its a moot point.
This talk about Manny not being legit if wins because he is UNDER the weight limit is stupid. Boxing has never, ever, ever kept a fighter from winning a title because he was BELOW weight. If a ****ing flyweight can knock Wlad Klit out he is the HW champ, period, and more power to him. It boggles the mind how ignorant some people are about a sport which is fairly simple to comprehend...
So for you, Soto beating Pac for the welterweight belt weighing 147 would be more of an accomplishment than if he were to beat him at welterweight weighing 135? You live in the bizarro world The only problem should be against Margo fighting for a vacant jr middle title against a guy weighing 144.
Oh and to the dumbass who said: "That's like saying a 4th grader passed 5th grade just by taking ONE test." You can actually do that. Its called an aptitude test. You wouldnt know that because you obviously lack the intelligence to be able to spell aptitude but in college I passed several courses by simply walking into an office, passing the aptitude test, and never attended a single day of class for that course. If a WW can beat a bigger stronger guy for his title what difference does it matter that he didnt weigh OVER 147?
Ah, so basically, let's say a welterweight vs a middleweight fight is an autowin for the welterweight fighter because he is lighter? Now, i get it! Thanks.
