lol good reply, still abit bull thought dont you think? if manny wants to fight for the 154lb belt at least make an effort to come closer to the weight, and not force your opponent to come 4lb lighter

It's the rest of the division's fault for leaving the belt vacant.

There should be a thread made about the peoples opinion on this board towards the wbc, with all the diffrent belts they are creating, the fights they are making , their rankings at certain times, stripping the belts of certain champions for certain shady reasons. Too close allinces with certain promoters.

There are NO weight minimums in boxing. Only weight MAXIMUMS.

A minimumweight boxer can theoretically fight for the heavyweight championship and if he wins, he becomes heavyweight champion.

Billy Conn 174 vs Joe Louis 199.6 = Heavyweight Title
Henry Armstrong 142 vs Ceferino Garcia 153 = Middleweight Title

Also, as in the past, great fighters and champions are always given priority when they move up in weight to challenge for titles that makes them fast forward over other top 10 contenders when they go for it.

I think the WBC has a rule that makes a champion from a lower division the number one contender in the the heavier division he climbs into if he decides to climb one weight division up.

    This is hardly anything new.

Because its for Pacs *8th world title. If this continues i have no doubt there will be more people that can break this "record"

*By 8th we mean some of them were not even contested at the weight and some were not even legit titles. Just like the 140 IBO that Hatton had.

For Hatton's case, they're counting the Lineal belt he had, the same way Barrera had one when Pacquiao beat him.

Oh and the weight minimum not existing only exists in professional boxing. Weight minimum limits exist in amateur boxing, so if you don't like boxers fighting beyond their weight division for other titles, stop watching professional fights.

It's not your cup of tea.
