Haye Can't Lead, Therefore He Can't Beat Wlad

You can't counter-punch Wlad or you'll get ****ed up. Haye did not impress. Yes, he has power, and yes he has speed. Audley is a big tall HW with a really long reach and he was fighting very negative. However, Haye would get inside and just back out. He has ZERO inside game. I mean zero inside game. If he fought on the inside Audley would have ZERO chance because when you smother a guy with 86 inch reach he can't punch you back with power and extension.

And it's not just countering. Haye just can't lead well as we saw here. Wlad is millions better than Audley.

I know, Haye ****ed up Fraudley in the 3rd but that's not the point.

I know Haye "never" fought inside but he needs to add this dimension at HW. He can get inside but he doesn't ****ing do anything but back out. Bring those body punches in and you can get Audley to cover down and then go back up top. It's really that simple.

Haye better go after Vitali because he's aging and his reflexes are dwindling. Haye will have a chance to counter-punch and blitz Vitali I think. Against Wlad he has to storm in and blitz him early otherwise he has next to zero chance. You just can't counter-punch Wlad.

I'd say Haye chances against Wlad are 1 or 2 out of 10 but against Vitali he might be able to win 3-5 times out of 10.

I never thought Haye could beat Wlad because in the last few years after his defeat to Sanders, Wlad has learned to totally master the distance between himself and his opponent. His jab alone will be a HUGE PROBLEM for a guy like Haye which gives up a lot to a with a reach & size advantage.

Wlad can't fight well on the inside either but Steward has taught him well to hold when not in position to control the distance.

I say Wlad creates problems for Haye throughout the fight with his long crisp jab, before making the right hand end it in the later stages when Haye starts getting tired from being constantly jabbed from the outside or held by Wlad leaning on him on the inside.

Haye said after the Barrett fight that he'd have to fight Wlad like Mike Tyson, then mysteriously pulled out of that fight at the last minute and hasn't seemed keen since. I think he knows he has to lead against Wlad but isn't capable of pulling it off

Haye will knock out both Klitz. The Klitz can't handle that type of power and speed.

Haye can lead. He didn't for the first two rounds because he had a bet on a third round stoppage. Sadly, that made for a poor fight but when he went for it, he got the stoppage immediately.

Exactly. Haye likes to set traps and against Wlad that will be difficult. Wlad doesn't give anything away, he just doesn't take chances and he'll manage jabbing Haye's head off. Against Vitali, he'll be able to set traps and counter because Vitali is aging and Vitali is just more active of a fighter. Wlad won't give much of an opportunity so Haye will have to try blitzing him.

This is interesting, at least show Haye is aware and smart. Unfortunately he has zero inside game and can't fight anything like Tyson. He just can't move his head and explode like that. It's not how he fights, even if he tries to train like that he won't be able to fight like that. He needs to be aggressive, try feinting, double jabbing and then working the body. It's not hard to make Wlad flinch, or back up. If Haye jabs in he could make Wlad nervous. He needs to add that inside dimension. If Wlad over-clinches it should cost him unless they fight in Germany where Wlad can basically do whatever he wants.

Come on Jack. He couldn't against Valuev, didn't against Ruiz, nor did he do it in his CW days. I'm not just judging him on this fight, but this just confirmed it. I know there's feeling a fight out and maybe Haye did have a bet on the third round but that doesn't mean you go so negative. Haye basically finished a guy that was just covering up.

Haye sets traps and likes to counter. He has always liked doing that. He won't be able to lead against Wlad who's 1000 times better because he doesn't do that and doesn't like to and has zero dimension to his game. He can't counter Wlad because that's suicide.

It's pretty obvious he was carrying Harrison until the third. I don't think he figured Audley'd be quite so timid, so it looked more awful than he'd banked on.

Interestingly enough, the third round had noticably the lowest round-by-round betting odds immediately before the fight, disproportionately to the second and the fourth. It looks (in retrospect) like word had got out.

He also had a ready made excuse if he lost in the form of a taped leg. Brits are so gullible. He also had excuses for the Valuev and Ruiz fights...

He's gonna have to fight a lot differently to that if he wants to win against Wlad.

I still don't think he's got a bad chance against Vitali but I dunno, we'll see.

Perhaps, but he was overly negative so I don't completely buy this. The crowd was booing it was that bad. He couldn't have been that worried to get the early KO. But I'm telling you guys now Haye doesn't like leading and likes settings traps to counter. Against Wlad he's going to be out of his element and have tons of trouble. He needs to go after Vitali that's his best chance against the K brothers, no doubt.

Why talk about the Klitschkos? Haye's moving in the opposite direction opponents-wise. A "mandatory" defense vs Valuev (Chagaev is out with his hepatitis) is next in line.

Obviously, Haye thinks that money doesn't stink, but his HW "campaign" does big time.

I don't particularly disagree. I've never given him much more than a 30% chance against either of them. I was just addressing the risk in extrapolating from tonight's fight.

I wasn't just going by this fight. It confirmed the thinking. Even if he wasn't "going for it" till round 3. There were times when Haye was unsure to move forward or let Audley lead. Audley's over-cautiousness actually showed Haye trying to set-up, rather than be able to create.

You have to fancy his chances against Vitali more, no?
