With more than 2 weeks notice Anderson would have beaten Groves....

i'd like to see a rematch because a) it was a good fight, b) just to see how it goes when both fighters have adequate notice to prepare for each other.

No as i trainers point of view you can compaire the two. As we had to move our training two weeks earlier we had to miss out on alot of our work and had to compleatly re-plan loosing the weight. As groves was due to box 2 weeks earlier his stamina will have been there and his weight would have been rite down, finishing off those last two weeks would have been far easier.
But im hoping the gamble will have paid off in terms of everyone now knowing what we knew that Kenny can mix in that level. I hope over the next couple of years we will get loads of quality fights between the top supermiddles where on the night anyone could beat anyone

Actually spotted Kenny walking round the arena just before the main event with a horrible mark under left eye is it anything serious or just bruising

Fair point that two weeks less has to be worse than two weeks more but suffice to say preparations were not ideal for either fighter. Anderson both impressed and surprised me last night and I too hope that all the top domestic SMW's will follow suit to fight each other so we get some great evenly balanced and close fights. Both guys should be proud of their performances and I hope they both come back stronger. I will keep a particular eye on Anderson from now on as his strength and toughness really impressed me.

You can not compare the situations. Also if Anderson had suffered the knock downs that Groves did then the ref would have stepped in. Either way Groves was exposed last night and had he not had the ref in his pocket he would have been stopped, if Anderson had not struggled with the weight and been better prepared he would have won. Hopefully they have a rematch, doubt it to be honest.

definately worth the gamble of taking the fight at late notice from anderson, great exposure for him!

It was a good fight last night, but I don't think anyone should be under the impression that Anderson is in groves' class after that. You can blame short notice and imperfect preparation, but the the truth is as soon as Groves got himself together he took the fight away from Kenny.

The idea that Groves was somehow exposed is nonsense. Exposed as what? A relatively young novice? A young fighter who needs to work on his defence? IMHO he was exposed as a potentially very classy fighter. But these are all things we already knew anyway.

In any event, Andersons stock will have rocketed from the fight.

Granite chin, it was just stamina or conditioning that wasnt at 100% and was the telling factor.

I was shocked at the terms some people were using to describe Kenny. Boxing News described him as a "live opponent". That is simply embarrassing.

If it was a level playing field then the result would have been different IMO.

    But thats boxing.

Kenny will be back, bigger and better - but not badder, thats not possible!

It's now up to Anderson to build on this fight and progress over the next couple of years.

The gamble was definitely worth it, sure he lost by TKO eventually but had Groves down and all but out at one stage, he's definitely proven he can hang at this level, if not higher.

Needs to be back in the ring asap, as soon as the cuts and swellings have healed I'd have him straight out in a couple of quick 8 or 10 rounders before looking at a return with Groves or whoever holds the British at the time.

if it was a level playing field the result would have been different???? both had 2 weeks notice...im assuming your complaining about the stoppage?????look at andersons arms drop just like jermain taylors did against froch! groves was just about to launch a big over hand right that would have put kenny on the canvas, maybe he could have let it go on a bit longer but why? kenny was gassed and hurt and would have been viciously knocked out, if both fighters had 10 weeks notice in a rematch i think groves would box sensibly and win comfortbly, you just have something against groves clearly slap.
