Off topic but how will everyone look at marg's career from here on out? He has looked absolutely horrible in all 3 outings where we KNOW FOR SURE that he didn't have special gloves!

You have more of an affinity toward slick speedy boxer types. I don't see how Mayweathers legacy is really better than Pac's. I'm taking it you think the fight happens and Mayweather wins to prove this? Or do you just think he's better on ability, and not legacy?

I can't see rating Pacquiao in the top 20 all-time without confidence in his ability to beat Mayweather.

Why? Do you think Duran should be exlcuded for his inability to beat Hearns?

Ignoring everything else, I just want to be clear here: does this mean therefore that you have Mayweather higher than Benny Leonard, Pep, Greb and Gans? Because. Well. I just don't know.

Not really a valid comparison in my opinion.

The fight definitely needs to happen for both of their legacies. Pacquiao hasn't been facing many boxer-types since Marquez, and Mayweather hasn't really faced a threat like Pacquiao ever.

It is certainly true that Pacquiao's resume lacks slicker cagey boxer-types. Would you be satisfied if he took out guys like Sergey Dzinziruk and/or Sergio Martinez instead(keep in mind their natural weights) instead?

Where do you rate Pacquiao at this moment, McGrain?

I would be more than satisfied if he took out Mayweather.

Beating Dzinziruk and Martinez would once again prove him incredible ability to beat bigger men, but then again none of those men are as proven commodity as Mayweather or Pacquiao himself, despite being far bigger.

It's much like Duran and his wins over Moore and Barkley. Sure they were great wins due to Duran fighting against bigger men (while he was old also) but it's the win over Leonard that truly stands out, even though he wasn't giving away as much weight.

Speaking more generally, though, it's possible for a fighter to be great but still suffer a loss to the second best fighter of his era?

Pretty high. Not lower than #20.
