Rigo needed to do more..he was playing safe and did not maintain is attack. Yes, tittle fight, just seventh pro fight, wanting to play safe,etc...but once you're in a fight you know what you can do with your opponent and he knew he could damage his opponent...my next opponent for him would be Caballero....

Shows how little most people know about boxing. Corboda didn't come to win, he came to spoil. He spent the first half of the fight covering up and running without any effective punches apart from an occasional jab that got through. Then he got that lucky knockdown and somehow he got the confidence to come forward while he covered up doing **** all. Rigondeaux was patient and efficient for the whole twelve rounds. He's a boxer you idiots and he boxed aswell as anyone can against an opponent like that. How the judges managed to score rounds for the other guy astounds me. Rigondeaux isn't an aggressive fighter, he's more mayweather than pacquiao and as a boxing fan Thats what I want. I enjoyed this fight more than manny beating up a punching bag with alot of sloppy punches for twelve rounds.
**** that. The first time Cordoba touched Rigondeaux in the 6th he went into retreat. I think he'd lose against Vazquez jr, Caballero, and Nishioka.
Rigondeaux still has the amateur sports mentality. He needs to be more aggressive if he wants to win the fans.
I agree. It was a clinical breakdown for the most part. Rigondeaux needs someone a step up even more that can put some SERIOUS pressure on him, so he can elevate his own game. He started to get disinterested in the fight cuz the guy couldnt even hit him if Rig planned on not getting hit. On the otherhand, he plays it WAY TOO SAFE. He needs to learn to be brave and step it up if he's so much better than the other opponent, and not coast to an easy victory. The only time he'll fully commit into the pocket is if he sees the opponent strongly weakened. Very much like Floyd Mayweather. Not to say theres nothing wrong with that, but Rigondeaux has close-out power he can use, unlike Floyd. Those who are doubters wholly on the premise that it was a "boring" fight just digged their own graves w/ the labeling "Casual Boxing Enthusiast" on ESB - good job! If you cant handle the "sweet science", try UFC for instant gratification....
dunno. i liked it. others watching with me didn't like it but they had no background on cordoba or rigo. 'Twas the expected boxing chess match. a display of skill but I do agree Rigo showed an adverse attitude to risk in the closing rounds.
My only complaint was that he decided to take a page from Floyd's book and hop on his bike and ride around the ring. Otherwise considering that this was only his 7th pro fight and he controlled a solid B+ fighter like that for 12 rounds impressed me. Also the judge who had Cordoba winning is the very same who scored a draw for Rocky Juarez against Chris John.
