Prime Joe Louis Beats Rocky Marciano --- Convince Me

I must say that I think Louis gave it a pretty good go in their actual fight. He had lost a lot of stamina and speed and only had his jab left as a real weapon, but still won a couple of rounds and had some success with that left. For me, this fight speaks better for Louis' chances in a prime for prime match-up than for Marciano's.

No matter who wins, it will be a gruelling affair, though.

Something tells me that Rocky would win this. Joe said himself that he absolutely hated being crowded. I think Rocky's pressure and power would be too much.

 

If Rocky pressured joe though, joe would slice him up with fast blazing combinations on the inside. Rocky would be a bit outgunned...although Louis better watch the **** out of a roundhouse suzy Q(which will put joe in La La land)...I just think Joe's two fisted artillery is too much for rocky to handle. Rocky was good in his crouch, but joe was snipe like. He had moores/walcotts/charles precision, but with better power and more combinations. Joe would find his mark on rocky's noggin, and even a granite chin like rock can only take joe's blows for so long. I do think rocky was incredibly strong, and would put louis on his ass a couple times early..until joe wakes up and goes to work.

I think Rocky would smother Joe's punching room, as he did in their actual fight. Rocky would stay on him, not giving him room to breathe or catch his breath. I don't think Rocky would give Joe the space or time to set up his counterpunches. Joe might catch Rocky with some uppercuts or combinations as he tried to bull his way inside, but with Rocky beating Joe in the ribs, arms, etc, I think Joe would slowly be grinded down and eventually KO'd.

 

That's very possible my friend. Rock was one of a kind. I just happen to think Louis is the greatest. I think Louis had incredible precision in his punches. I think Joe would catch rocky on the way in every time with sharp combinations..The rock is very hard to stop..but louis did have the tools to stop the rock's momentum and rythm. Joe's left jab is another big factor..Rocky will be less inclined to go inside eachtime he takes a heavy fast Louis jab. I do think rocky will do damage to Joe, but I think joe will slip out from the inside and tee off on rock. Rocky could throw non stop punches, but 4 joe louis combinations in a row will beat 1 or 2 rocky haymakers to the punch. I do think Louis fought men comparable to Marciano in size and strength, while rocky never faced anyone with the power/combinations combined with the precision of a prime joe louis. Rocky did beat great fighters though.

 

In his prime, I think Louis would defeat Rocky



Louis would have the energy to momentarily create space between him and Rocky allowing himself more opportunities to land his punches at proper range while rocky comes in
