That article could have been written by me, it's basically exactly what I've been thinking about the fight.

What I said before the fight is exactly what happened

 

He clearly states that Harrison is mentally ill. With no evidence. Considering that's the whole hook the article hangs off, I'd say it's emotive nonsense.

If you want to make a claim like that, you need to back it up.

 

How'd he get that cool £1million plus, from the playground fund?? Of course he has responsibilty he took a fight that he wasnt deserving of and performed appallingly with no heart and didnt take the opportunity. And with the fans putting their money down he wouldnt have earned that undeserved fee so yes he has a responsibility to the fans (note the phrase didnt say owe at all) You say Sky and hayemaker mislead the fans... What the **** was Audley doing for 2 weeks with the 'This is my Journey' and 'Yes I Can' nonsense??? Everyone involved with this shambles is partially to blame including Audley so cut the soft bias crap.

He's a man of 39 years old, we know he freezes when it matters but he is responsible for himself and if he couldnt admit he shouldnt have been in that ring thats his own fault, the others are wrong for exploiting that

I don't know what happened. I have said that Audley let himself down and was dissapointing, but I won't call him a disgrace, because I don't know what happened to him, or what goes on inside his head. What happens to a man, that stops him from throwing a punch in the only world title fight he's ever going to get? The biggest opportunity of his life, and he did not throw a punch. Why?

Did he freeze? I don't know, I've never been in a boxing ring but can a man freeze so much that he is incapable of even throwing a jab?

Audley is physically capable of learning how to throw a jab. This is basics. A man with his physical advantages, fighting against a smaller man like Haye, the jab is a super effective weapon. Harrison is not a Klitschko but anyone can learn to jab. Anyone. Why can't Harrison jab? Did he jab in sparring? If not what the **** was his trainer doing? If he did jab in sparring, why not in the actual fight?

What was Audley scared off? Is he scared of getting hit? Or is he scared of performing in front of large crowds? Does he have panic attacks, stage fright?

Even if you say it's none of those things and that Audley only cares about a payday and not his legacy, surely every man has enough pride to want to try hard in the biggest fight of his life. Surely the chanting at the end hurt him. These are the questions I have right now. I believe Audley Harrison has mental issues. This is not me making excuses, I'm simply stating what I think. He lost, he was expected to lose by most people, and they can gloat about it now and say "we told you so", but can they answer why Audley Harrison has failed to deliver besides just saying "he's ****"? This is an interesting topic and I want to hear what people think. What made Audley freeze so much? Not just in this fight but in other fights throughout his career?

People are saying that Audley Harrison should spend time with his lovey family now. It doesn't matter how much money he has, or how nice a family, house, and lifestyle he has. Those chants, will probably be with him forever. Everytime he lost, there was always "next time", but now there is no next time for him. He'll have to live with this fact. To tell him "go away and enjoy your family now" is like telling him to "run along now and play". Some people have it all, but they're still unhappy inside. Audley will likely need help before he can enjoy the rest of his life.

I'm not mad at Haye for making this fight though. In fact I wanted this fight to happen.

The fight was a joke from the start. Mugs made them millions. Audley started a fraud and finished a fraud. Haye at least has a legit history but has become a gutless wonder at heavyweight.

Both are millionaires.

Onehas a legacy to build, more belts to win, pound for pound positionimg etc.. The other shpuld have been more concerned with ending his career and life as a laughing stock and a freak in the world of competitive professional boxing.

Both should have been nowhere near that fight.haye is the worst for taking an easy pay day when the klits are stood there bored shitless. But hey, he's got to put food on the table, right??

 

haye always insisted this fight would be completely one sided and the only reason he took it was because of the huge public demand, and this was justified by how quickly it sold out. im not ashamed to say i was 1 of the people who payed for the fight, purely to see harrison get knocked out. he's talked nothing but crap for the last 10yrs. i was hoping a good beating from haye would knock some sense into harrison and make him realise he's bonkers. fair play to haye....i wish i could make 5mil as easy as that.

 

Audley isn't deluded, he was offered a HW World Title shot after not earning it and several million pounds, a figure going up, for the more **** he spoke.

Anyone would have to be totally insane to refuse such an offer.

 

Harrison will be fine with his millions lapping it up in LA where he lives, there are far more deserved folks in boxing in need of sympathy and attention.

 

Unbelievable! Fraudly rips off the public once again and people are whining for him. This JOKE got exactly what he deserved - having his glass jaw shattered one more time. Hopefully he keeps his misbegotten joke of a career going so we can see him get laid out cold so more.

 

Rubbish. Haye is not obliged to fight anyone, he makes the final decision. He chose this because it was easy money.

Good article in some ways, although it goes too far in my opinion, as I don't think we have any medical basis for saying Harrison is mentally ill. Delusional? Yes. But not in terms of serious delusions that constitute mental illness. It is rather glib to use terms so freely without any real basis from those qualified in the field.

All the same Haye taking the fight was a joke and him, Booth and Sky are to blame for that sham of a bout.

Also anyone complaining who paid the ticket fee or £15 PPV needs to shut up. Everyone knew this was a joke fight, everyone knew it was a disgrace and taken for easy money and everyone who knows boxing knew it was a total mismatch.

Those of us who said we would refuse to help line the coffers of the greedy were ridiculed for the fact that it would hardly dent the revenue. Well that line of washing your hands of any responsibility is inherently flawed. If everyone who thought it was a pathetic bout had stuck to their guns it would have made a difference.

If you helped justify Haye and Skys decision by paying for this farce, you had a hand in it too, and the next time a miserably uncompetitive bout is announced it will be because a bit of media hype allowed people who should have known better to buy into an empty dream.

The man was deluding himself for a million quid!!!!! I could do that quite easily, I could convince myself that I was the second coming of Jesus for that money.

I can't believe that people are feeling sorry for him, the man is going away with a lot more money than anyone on here has. But let's all shed a tear for the big ****!

 

While I agree with your logic Strike, at the end of the day, we are fans. We want to watch boxing, and we want to watch Haye, one of our best fighters.

Successful British fighters are very fortunate in terms of the huge, unswerving support that they get. They - and the broadcasters - have a duty not to abuse that IMO.

I bought it, because I had 'casual' fans visiting me who also wanted to see it. Otherwise I wouldn't have, and I boycotted Khan - ***an, which was a **** take as well. But generally, I want to see the fights, and I'm willing to pay, because the fighters deserve it.

I don't think it's too much to ask the matchmakers to show a little bit of integrity...
