People can clearly see now Alex has become Scotland No1 manager/promoter. At present he has Ricky Burns, John Simpson and Willie Limond as well as several exciting young fighters coming through. His shows are far superior to other promoters in Scotland, both in the quality of fighters fighting and the arena. He was instrumental in getting Rickys show versus Martinez in Scotland and deserves huge credit for this.
The point i'm making is he deserves credit for the years of hard work he's put into Scottish boxing and its time people realise the work he does up here for his fighters.PS. I dont need to impress anyone, just appriciate hard work:good
How does it work with Morrison and Warren in relation to Burns, Bill? Where does one job end and the other begin?
Alex and Frank work very close has far as im aware i think Rickys managed by AM and co-promoted by both AM & FW. Both have done great for Ricky imo
sending a 9-0 Ricky Burns down to London to fight a 22-0 Graham Earl at a few days notice - typical of a Scottish promoter. Thank God Ricky had the talent and skills to come through it.
The shows in scotland that are backed by Warren are good, but not been overly impressed with the Thistle ones, Gilmours are better imo. He has Ricky of course, and done a good job there. I think Gilmour has more than 50-60 lads on the books at one time I heard? But overall big Alec is doing good for sure. You just putting this in so that you dont get a horses head in your bed Billy:good
I agree. Ricky was matched tough from the start- even pre Earl most of his fights were tough on paper, should have known then really.
I remember watching the johanneson fight and thinking he was going to get stopped but did well to hang on for the distance. Am I right in remebering that Alex Morrison manged Scott Harrison as well during his world title defences?
I don't think it was poor management putting him in with Johannson, Ricky was ready IMO and style wise he had the goods to beat Carl but he didn't look right on the night. Maloney managed Harrison.
do you not think its these fights, even though they were losses, that have made him the fighter he is??
I heard that Ricky was ill that night, and was shitting through the eye of a needle with a stomach bug for a couple of days before they went for it. he even had to take his gloves back off to go the toilet cause he still had it fight night. True dat
