Ray fought Duran's fight. And Ray beat Duran easily in the rematch, and Benitez beat Duran easily a year after that. Duran could not deal with speed well. If he had a guy who brawled with him and he was just as quick as (Barkley etc) Duran would look awesome and dominating. As he usually did. most guys were not as quick as he was, but then the level above that was Leonard,Hearns,Benitez, and we saw the results there.
Duran isn't troubled by speed? That was his achilles heel. Benitez,Hearns,Leonard, all guys who had speed and used it technically. Manny's speed would give Duran huge problems even at lightweight.
Manny isn't knocking out Duran, deluded ***s. He's not Thomas Hearns, he doesn't have that kind of power at welter and he never will.
I don't know if I see a knockout by Pacman, but Pacman going side to side and the way he lands combinations from angles would make Duran look slow and awkward. Duran did not have good mobility when it came to side to side of his opponents. He did great when the guy was in front of him. Awesome if a guy stood in front of him, but he had a plodding style even at lightweight, which would not work well against Pacman. It did not work well against Leonard,Hearns or Benitez.

As I have told you and others before. Ray outboxed Roberto easily in the rematch, and then Benitez used speed to beat Duran just over a year later. Duran could not deal with Pacman's speed. I agree Pacman couldn't brawl with Roberto, but he would have to fight a more controlled fight than he fought Margarito and Cotto, but if he fought smart he would win a UD.
Ray didn't want to escape. He fought Roberto's fight. He said "I wanted to beat that man at his own game" He almost did. But then Ray realized the whole game and boxed and won easily. And Pacman would have that blueprint and beat Duran in similar fashion, but he wouldn't stop him.
what a matchup! pacs a great fighter but duran would have figured him out. duran by late stoppage or a fairly close decision.
Thats pure fanboy bull**** & you know it:deal Leonard was castigated by the majority of the press after that fight for his reticence to even attempt to make a contest of it with a wieght ****ed duran. the judges only had it 2/2/1 for **** sake, leonard just ponced about & did little or anything but showboat & duran did even less to nothing & you know damb well that the Duran of the Benitez fight was at 154 & the style match up of this fight is absolutly perfect for Duran regardless of Manny's speed & combo's Duran was a very hard man to catch clean & Angelo Dundee often raved at Duran's defensive capabilities. Duran will sufforcate Manny & it's just a matter of when & not IF he gets to him & if that 6th round by Margo is your yardstick then it ai'nt lasting long:bbb
