:lol:ENOUGH OF THAT. We really don't know if he was still on PEDS in the Mayweather fight because there are still undetectable substances that atheletes can use. I will end my speculation of that here.

Vargas wasn't able to make 154 properly at that point in his life. As much passion as he may have showed in the countdown show he wasn't able to respond in the way he was in the first fight where I felt he had quite a degree of success before his left eye nearly burst. I don't think Collazo or Margarito had any answers for Mosley's physical ability (his speed and power) which has been carrying his career I've felt since the second de la Hoya/Winky Wright I fight.

IMO, Vargas was shot in both fights but did look better in the first fight. Still that performance in the Vargas rematch was the last fight I remember Shane being fast on his toes so we can't ignore it completely. I haven't seen all of the Pacquiao-Margarito fight yet but from what I've heard it wasn't 100% easy for Pacquiao. I just think that Margarito had too many things on his mind going into the fight with Mosley but it still was a great win for Shane. No way should it have qualified him for being high on the P4P lists though.(Why the hell is he top 5 anyways? I'm a BIG shane fan but what has he done recently to truly be as high as he is on those lists?)

He's not shot. He's still fast and quite skilled. Can still take a punch and fight 12 rounds. He has clearly declined to the point he'll have to be carefully matched or relegated to fighting journeyment if he wants to win again. Don't forget he was looking pretty ropey before the Margarito fight, he was apalling in the Mayorga fight too.

Vargas' eye became swollen because Mosley was nailing him with right hands. Shane was lucky he found them before the stoppage. He looked worse in his second fight with DLH than in the first fight but Shane looked better in the Wright rematch than in Wright-Mosley 1. His atleticism isn't what it once was and since he didn't develop good defensive fundamentals or craftiness he's not going to learn them now especially this late in his career.

He was stiff in the Mayorga fight and looked bad but he still pulled out the ko and was nailing Mayorga with good shots in the later part of the fight. I don't put too much in that fight as Mayorga is pretty hard to look great against in a whole fight(DLH looked great against him and did WAY better than Shane did). Mayorga probably isn't hard to look great against now lol, but he was like that especially in his prime.

If I remember correctly the eye started to look bad after the first two rounds because Mosley was pumping the overhand right. Then from there he only needed to land one every now and again to get that badboy to swell up to the size of a lemon, because Vargas was starting to claw his way back on the cards. The Wright rematch was quite strange, I didn't think he belonged in any ring with Winky Wright yet he somehow managed to adapt (albiet not enough.) I can't disagree with your last statement, his stamina down the stretch is nowhere near what it was, his footwork and movement have all but disappeared and he certainly isn't going to learn anything more (if anything hes forgetting things, we don't see those fluid combinations for instance anymore.)

I voted no, but Mosley is on the verge of being completely shot. It was mentioned above that his decline began in 2005, but I'm going to go even further and say that Shane started to go downhill after the second Forrest fight in 2003. Even though the Raul Marquez fight was very short and ended in a forgettable NC, I watched that and thought that Shane just didn't look right. Marquez was way more competitive than he should have been. I thought he looked **** against Oscar, Winky obviously, and then the first Vargas fight just rang enormous alarm bells. Vargas should not have been competitive at that point in his career, but somehow that fight was super close.

The Margarito fight showed us that he's still very crafty and can outsmart a dumb fighter, but Shane no longer has the gifts that he once had. A couple of fights against lesser competition makes him look like a god, but in the past few years when he's stepped up those just happen to be the days that he's not feeling like himself.

Good point...I thought he looked good against Wright in the rematch but I can't argue with saying he's been slipping since the second Forrest fight. I think that was the last time he was in his prime.
