Its funny you should mention the uppercut, I can see Mayweather timing a counter right uppercut as Manny tries to jump in with his straight left.

The southpaw stance and the awkward punches from awkward angles, will provide some knotty moments for Floyd early on. But once he figures out how to maintain range, time the counters etc, I see him cruising to a win. I’ve never seen a Floyd fight where he doesn’t get stronger as the fight goes on.

But at the same time, it’s hard to imagine Roach and Pacquiao coming in without an adapting strategy. Which is why, like you say, this fight must happen for all these questions to be answered.

Its just a monumental difference in style than anything hes seen. Hes a short fast slugger going against a distance fighting, counterpunching potshotter who will take zero chances in this particular fight. Its going to be a really difficult fight for Pac.

Those are effective shots at close range or if someone is right in front of you. You cant throw punches if your not in range.

Writing Pacquiao of as a slugger is stupid if you ask me. You don't achieve what he has by just being a slugger. If you're a slugger you stay in your weight class and out slug similar sized guys. You step up in weight and slug and you get shown up

Floyd's always FOCUSED and OBSERVING during a fight. He has adapted to his opponents adjustments before.

Yeah I said this before, Manny only put those punches together against Cotto, cause he had already!!! connected, pinned Cotto down with his set up punch, the left hand, but what happens when he cant get that punch off as consistently and his opponent is using their legs? his activity will be cut in half.

Manny does not have the jab to close distance, or the defense to manouvre Mayweather into areas where he could have success.

Anyone who knows boxing knows PBF will tool this guy in the middle of the ring. Pac doesn't have the jab, reach nor the defense to keep PBF honest. He will follow PBF around while eating a jab and straight right hands. Pac is lost when his opponents don't come to him and is frustrated by this. PBF won't fight Pac's fight he will outbox him to a wide UD win.:deal Roach knows this and Arum knows this as well. What Cotto did in that 8th round PBF can do for a full 12 except not get hit as much and he can also fight better off the ropes than Cotto can.

I think he will be in range early on. It's once Floyd figures him out, where things will become seriously complicated for Pac.

One thing that Floyd actually does is CLINCH. I can't name the last emmanuel opponent who actually had the calm state of mind to CLINCH.

Calling him a slugger is not a knock on him. Mike Tyson was a slugger and he was pretty great too, but he was far harder to hit cleanly in his prime, and we did see Tyson face a lot of mobile boxers he had to close the gap against, and when you face an opponent like that, your putting yourself in a lot tougher situation than a fighter whose right there to be hit coming at you. This is what Im interested to see if Pac is capable of doing.

I have to agree, and thats the thing, Cotto had success in both aspects imo, not consistently, but still, he had degrees of success claiming center ring, countering Manny off the front, but also using his legs, letting Manny come foward, and as you said, Mayweather can do this consistently for 12 rounds.

I dont. I think he will be cautious from the opening bell. Pac is no Mosley. If Mayweather tries the same fight standing in hes going to get knocked out.
