I do agree with this. I dont think Hatton was very effective against Mayweather, but that maybe he made Mayweather fight at a slightly higher pace that what he would of liked, which is what I anticipate Pac will do, he will push Floyd cause he will keep trying to win, and either he will get stopped, although some will say that is unlikely, or he will make Mayweather fight at a faster pace, expend more energy than he would like, he might even have sporadic success landing the odd shot, but in the end, It will amount to huff and puff IMO, a decisive points victory in a fight that seemed more competitive, due the other guy constantly trying to win.

This ties in with the fact that Mayweather is a % fighter, you bring 45%, he will bring 55%, and so on.

as usual you guys are overarating mayweather's skills and underrating pacquiao.s Pacquiao is not a mindless brawler who throws random punches. Everything he does is calculated. He knows how to box, move, feint, counter, and set traps. Combination punching creates openings,.

If the plan for Floyd is jsut to lead him aroudn the ring, jab and throw right hand every now and then. That's not going to win him the fight. Pacuiao is not stupid enough to be beaten like that. He knows how to cut the ring off and control distance. He didn't know how to do that when he fought Marquez. The way his footwork has improved is the proof. Pacquiao knows the importance now of moving to his right, and turning his opponent.

high workrate - speed - combination punchng - southpaw style - great intagibles , it's a bad mix for Floyd, especially right now since he'll be a year+ out of boxing and not the same fighter he used to be.

    Fair enough:thumbsup

In regards to employing that type of stance, I think it might be effective in terms of, maybe he would be able to push Pac back easier, whilst tucking up effectively, then when he has Manny on on the backfoot, he could control him from there the centre with the jab, look to stalk him around whilst keeping him in his place by sticking the jab on him, but also looking to bring him onto counters when he tries to jump in, specifically the counter right uppercut when he tries to shoot the left hand.

That said, what I wouldn't advice him to do in that stance, is walk him down, stay close, and try to bully him, cause I think Pac would find it easier pivoting off, using the fact Mayweather is giving up the range, obscuring his own vision, to his advantage.

I think on the front foot, this fight is about Mayweather maintaining distance, protecting that distance by bringing counters into play, particularly the counter right uppercut when he attempts to shoot that left hand.

Yeah the first couple rounds Mayweather didn't want to be fighting at that pace, it was clear to see...and maybe he didn't even expect it (him being off balance).

Which is also why I believe Pacquiao will have early success.

Mayweather's accurate counter-punching can knock Manny out of rhythm...whether it will be a massive factor in the bout is another story.

Any elite fighter who is an effective aggressor has a good chance of beating Floyd...defense is secondary in this matchup.

funnily enough the one real potential problem i see for Floyd is a facet he has always been the best at! Concentration!
I think Floyd has gotten sloppy twice in a row now. against Marquez in the second i think but he hen turns it round instantly and floors him, and when he gets caught by Shane!
I think these things will bother Floyd senior in particular as he is the one who gave Floyd much of his defensive game. Uncle Rog has always wanted floyd to be a bit more progressive offensively and in recent times, bolstered by his obvious filling out as a man (Floyd now has what i call man strength, the strenghth you gain in your 30's) Floyd seems more keen to impose himself offensively.
I believe he must be ultra tactical early with Pac... fustrate and punish mistakes and then step in mid rounds. I have another knowledgable friends who says no jump on him ealry and lets see, he claims the moseley shot came aout a momentary confusion about his guard where he momentarily looked to get back behind the shoulder and didnt commit to it clearly and sharply enough!

    I'd say its certainly possible.

What if Pac did have success early, would that translate to the latter part of the fight, given that it might be easier to settle into a rhythm, when you can find your bearings? which if Mayweather does get knocked off his stride early, will he be able to establish that rhythm? I mean I felt Hatton got picked off more because he got tired, as in the mid rounds he stopped closing the gap as quickly, which meant there was more time for Mayweather to think, to set up his offense, and as we all know, Hatton is only effective when pressing the gap, or when he's on your chest, he gets picked off something chronic whenever there is any separation, although I take the point, if someone wants assert Hatton got picked off more cause Mayweather established that rhythm, thats a fair point, although a drop in intensity may of aided that I'd venture to suggest. Now having said all this, what happens if Manny stustains that intensity during that period because! of that unbelievable stamina he has?

Im just spit-balling here, but food thought? maybe im reaching, just trying to think of something positive for Manny though.

Dont buy the inactive line! Floyd aint Ali lying on his back compeletely inactive during the Vietnam layoff. This guy stays and around the it all. he maintains fitness and his drop off interms of fitness between fights is negligible. Infact one could argue that the rests allow him to fully commit to his exacting trianing regime and allow those brittle hands to heal properly... we have had no hand problems for a while now!

Before the Mosley bout, if someone had asked me what would happen if Mayweather was hurt early...I would have said Mayweather would have probably boxed his way to a decision without taking risks.

But now, I'm unsure...I don't believe he can beat Pacquiao in a gun fight, so if Pacquiao were to hurt him early, I don't think Mayweather will go all macho again and stand his ground. But that's what wins this fight for Mayweather in my opinion, he has shown he can fight an effective offensive and defensive bout at Welterweight now (obviously this isn't the biggest and only factor I believe what wins Mayweather the bout)...he probably needs to find the right mix against Pacquiao. He's more comfortable at the weight now than before his "retirement".

Well that sounds logical, if he can put Pac in his place mentally, establish who is the boss, you would think he is on the right track to executing the right game plan.

Ideally, I'd say Mayweather should look to try back Manny up, then keep him on the backfoot with the jab, as the best way to stabilize Manny's in and out motion imo, is to put a jab on him, only the reason I advocate him using his legs, is cause backing Manny up, might not be that easy.

I just thought Mayweather was caught unaware to be honest, he was not mindful that, that was a set up shot to Mosley's right hand, however once he became wise to it, he was able to negate it.

Mosley did'nt even throw it right if you watch it, he reaches with the jab, then overshoots the right hand, which is probably why! Mayweather was able to counter it when he became wise to it.

When you jab to the body, I believe you have to step in behind it as much as you can, now the best way to do that imo, is to double it, simply cause when get in closer, when you sling the right over the top, its harder for the opponent to step away from, plus, reaching with the jab, will leave you open to the counter right hand when you try to jab to the body, what I used to do was bring that right glove across, ALA Archie Moore, to protect against that potential counter.
