His size and skills makes him the best head to head at 147 and 154.
    He has championships at 147, 154, 160, 168 and 175.

You havent started off too well on ESB with threads like this !

Hearns was a master boxer that could go to war when he had to, was incredibly fast & hit like a horse, especially with that right hand.... he had incredible heart & was just about impossible to outbox from distance, was IMO the best ever 154 lber as well as a brilliant 147 lber & a very capable 160 lber... he also won titles at 168 lbs, 175 lbs & one of the lesser titles at 190 lbs.

He only ever lost twice in his prime, to a top 5 ATG MW & the consensus no2 WW of all time & he never let himself down in any of those fights.

Hearns also dominated both Duran & Benitez, both amazing ATG fighters.

Boxrec dont tell the whole story :deal

  10. Among top 15 greatest welters of all time. Yeah yeah he lost his fights with Leonard and Hagler but boy were those great fights. It's not like he laid down. Leonard and Hagler were both busted the **** up after their fights with him.

I don't even watch boxing, I just look at the stats. Fight variables, styles, and circumstances never factor into the equation, it's all about numbers.

There is nothing wrong with boxrec/a fighter's record, but it should be used in conjunction with actually watching their fights and not just as an independent barometer of their legacy.

Stats can be manipulated depending on how you want to frame an argument - not everything is so black and white.

Stats tell us that Sugar Ray Robinson had 19 losses on his record, so therefore he must be pretty awful losing that many times.

    Yep.

Hearns is an ATG, no doubt about it. I wouldn't say he's a better ATG than Pac, but if they'd fought at 147 it would have been murder, similar to what he did to Duran, easy, early rounds KO.

That's how damn good he was.
