Suppose for the sake of argument: Pac is taking PEDs

Lets suppose that 1) Pac has been taking PEDs fed to him in chocolate milkshakes for his last 5 fights.

Many people who regularly post here believe that Floyd would easily outbox Manny.

Which is to say that, if (1) is true, they believe Floyd would easily outbox a Manny who is on a steady diet of PEDs.

Lets assume that (2) Roger, Floyd Sr. and Floyd Jr., have concluded that they would easily outbox the Manny that they watched beat Hatton, Oscar, Cotto, and Margarito.

They believe (2) to be true, because Floyd is a superior boxer with a great defense and that Pac is a crude fighter ill-prepared to deal with a boxer of Floyd's ability.

If (1) and (2) are true, then I ask the question:

Why do they care so much about Olympic style testing?

    I ask further:

Do they think that Manny's PED habit would materially affect the outcome of the fight?

And if not, then why not go ahead and fight him and easily outbox a crude fighter who happens to be taking PEDs?

(If you answer: "they do so on principle" then you are stuck with the incongruous notion that Floyd Sr., Roger, and Floyd Jr. are three men of strict and high-minded moral principle)

Because they know that Pac has speed and combination punching, and something good is bound to land Floyd, so they are worried that Floyd might get seriously hurt. Floyd Sr. keeps talking about how hard Pac punches at the higher weights, and thinks that it's not natural.

well..i think the stamina issue is why PEDS would be an issue.

Look how Shane looked gassed out after 3 rounds. Would Pac do the same, if he weren't on PEDS?

We'll have to see based on his performance.

Pac should do the right thing and test olympic style while Floyd is on vacation. Just to prove all doubters wrong. its not that hard.

To answer, it's because of insurance. Sure, technically it should be easy to beat Pac, but a Pac with PED strength could very well land a lucky shot here and there, especially with that output. Not enough to beat Floyd, but if he's taking what he took when he hit Hatton, and the stars are aligned in true Buster Douglas fashion, Floyd could get seriously hurt by a cheater. At least with drug testing they have the peace of mind knowing that if Floyd gets hit, it'll be by someone who's clean. And if he's clean, Floyd ain't getting hit.

It was stated by Floyd Sr. that Floyd Jr. would easily outbox Manny with or without PEDs. He did also state that anything can happen in boxing and that Floyd Jr. could get seriously hurt. Floyd Jr. is still his son and he has said on several occasions that he worries about his son getting hurt.

I do not myself believe that Manny is on PEDs, I am simply reiterating what Floyd Sr. said.

If Pacquiao is taking PED's. He should demand a refund.
He's not doing anything out of the ordnary. He's beating guys who he is better than. By margans that he should beat them by. As for his power? His power is over blown. He doesn't over whelm anyone. He just lands a lot of punches that after 10-12 rounds take their tool.

Doesn't really answer the question. Boxing is dangerous and getting hurt is always a possibility.

I don't think Floyd would easily outbox Pac. I do think he can win at least 7 rds uncomfortably but in a clear fashion. Why do I care about OSDT? It's because: 1) It's not unreasonable to ask for just a few blood tests 2) I'm curious to see if Manny can pass the program. It's not out of the realm of possibility that Ariza is secretly spiking those protein shakes with illegal substance. Sounds funny to the average Pac fan. Yes, I know. But you'd be surprised to find out what people will do to gain an edge. If Pac passes the tests with flying colors then good for him. Nobody gets hurt and he would have erased all doubts. It would put to rest all the irritating arguments involving steroids and Pac. It's a win for the sport of Boxing and for the fans.

Floyd is using the high moral ticket to make an attempt to earn himself some credit. HOWEVER "cleaning up the sport" is not the most important mark on his agenda. Let's be real. He is not a saint. Doing something good for the sport is just an added bonus. What he's really focused on is psychological warfare. His biggest intention is to get under Pac's skin - both literally and figuratively. It's not a bad idea and it's certainly not illegal.
