Hey, pal, the numbers don't lie. Hamed was well into his prime as the biggest favorite in boxing history and got schooled by Barrera, even after getting two points deducted via bashing his head into a turnbuckle and still won.

It's not about primes. It's about Hamed not really training for the fight. Physically, he was in his prime, but he was not properly trained for the fight. Similar to how the training of Hagler vs. Hearns went.

BS!!! why would he lose motivation when that was the biggest fight of his life??? Bottomline is he was awkward and had good power but when faced with a great fighter he was out of his depth.

Even worse from what I read. No roadwork, sparring with Mexican teenagers and focussing more on his haircut than Barrera tapes. Impressive he still went 12 rounds with a prime Barrera however.

LOL give barrera his ****ing credit. Like what was hamed gonna do differently if he had better training?? maybe 3 more summersaults in the air upon entering the ring?? That was the same hamed that would have destroyed the kevin kelly's and wayne McCollough's but not great fighters like barrera.

if he couldnt be bothered training then that shows the difference between a good fighter and a great fighter if a great fighter agrees to the fight they will put the work in barrera did his part hamed didnt and anyway he was showed up skill wise not in a physichal fashion

It was around the time of 9/11 he just had a kid was preaching about allah etc and was being ridiculed by the press and everyone else wanted to see him get beat, when I saw Barrera slam Naz's head into the turnbuckle I felt he let it happen he wanted it .. to give the press and everyone else what they wanted ... a motivated Naz wouldn't of let that happen.

It's debatable who had a more powerful punch - in fact I'm fairly certain Barrera (their only common opponent) would testify contrary to your claim. But to say Hamed had more ring savvy is just ridiculous.

He would've also had quite a bit more difficulty moving up in weight as far as Manny as he was a much smaller man.

Hamed back before he came to America, knew how to bait his opponents to throw punches he could anticipate and counter. Basically, he would **** off his opponent to the point where they would try to knock his block off, become predictable and Hamed can take advantage with his unusual counters.

I agree though, Pacquaio's physique is more suited to weight gain than Hamed. Hamed would only look fat above 126.

One needs only to look at the quality of his opposition to figure out why they were sloppy, reckless and unable to predict counter punches. Believe me, it had very little to do with Hamed's ring savvy.

:goodGreat post:good. When Hamed FINALLY moved up in competition,he got handled quite easily.Imagine how easily Mayweather would have beaten him when he ducked Mayweather after mayweather challenged him at a 128 catchweight.

I agree with this comment. Also, Hamed more savvy than Pac? Don't think so.
