I was watching Boxinginfo on YouTube and he talked about the success Marquez had against Pacquiao. He basically said that Marquez was leading with other punches and ending exchanges with his jab to reset himself. If you noticed in Pac's recent fights, they tried establishing a jab, just to find their range and set everything else up. But Pac would adjust and eventually come over the top with his right hook. You can see when he caught guys like Hatton, Cotto and Marg flush, he was basically beating them to the punch and you'd see their right hands, being thrown after a jab, go flailing. The question I think is whether or not Pac can throw his hook faster than Floyd uses his right when he leads with it. I know there's that GIF of the Judah knock down but I'm not sure Pac can time it enough to land it before Floyd lands. Not to mention that Floyd has a huge reach advantage over him. I know his hook would be shorter in this case but I think Floyd lands first just because he's initiating and the speed difference is negligible. Pac will be in the fight, if he's getting outboxed, because of work-rate, IMO, but I see Mayweather landing the cleaner harder shots, since his lead right is going to be there for him. Pac will land some hard lefts, too, because he's accustomed to that shoulder roll but he's adjusted before. I don't see how Pac adjusts to the lead right. People are using the Zab fight as a barometer but is that accurate just because they're both southpaws? And even if that was the case, Floyd was able to land at will as the fight went on. I don't know if that was more Floyd ad******g or Zab fading like he always does, probably both. Whatever.
Pacquiao could surely time and counter even Mayweather in my view, but that's a small fraction of the real pie. You have Mayweather leading. Not likely - although - it's boxing. Still. A bad place to start.
I say a cease-fire on PacWeather until Mayweather shows signs of getting out of another temp retirement....
Key to beating Pacquiao is to make him force the exchanges and do not brawl with him at all or pay the price, Cotto, Hatton, Margarito and ODLH did not possess the skills to outbox Pacquiao from the outside, size doesn't make fighters better skill does, Margarito is tall and has a long reach but what good are those qualities if you can only fight inside, Margarito couldn't even outbox the smaller man from the outside. Pacquiao couldn't outbox Marquez from the outside and he had to force the exchange and got countered to bits in the process.
No it seems that it is your understanding of floyds actions and thoughts that make you think he is not fighting pacman because he is not confident in beating him. And lets face it your understanding may well be as wrong as it is correct.
i can think of something that is certain,no one will ever know not until floyd decide to step into the ring with the pacman.
