Assuming Curry isn't a shot has-been by the time Pac gets to him, I take the Cobra by UD. Possibly by KO too, if he's firing on all cylinders.
The Curry of the "Starling, Diaz, Jones, LaRocca & McCrory" fights would be too big, strong and good for Manolo Packer at 147...... MR.BILL
Yeah, was definitely thinking that. Curry was a great welterweight for a few years. I think it's been established that Pac is a high ATG. I'd go with Curry but I would call Manny a live underdog.
I'm tired of going against Pacquiao and being wrong, and even though there's no way to be proven wrong this time...I'm just to shut up.
I favour Curry but its a near 50/50 match for me. Pac's speed, movement and angles would give Curry fits but he was razor sharp at his best. I cant not see him catching Pac with some truly appalling ****! Would've loved to see him against Floyd jr as well.
Pac man for me. I think Curry was a great "plan A" fighter, even before the Honeyghan fight. The Honeyghan fight, imo, was the first time that Curry's plan A didn't work, and, for whatever reason, he was found wanting. Perhaps a parallel to Tyson post-Douglas, but I don't want to get into that argument, not here anyway, I'm just using that as a possible parallel. Fact is, Lloyd asked questions of Curry that hadn't previously been asked, and Curry wasn't able to respond. Although massively gifted technically, I don't think Curry quite had that "warrior" spirit, that one would almost certainly need against Manny, especially if plan A didn't work, which is a strong possibility in this match. I do think that Curry was found out in the Honeyghan fight, in terms of mental strength. I think Pac would have been good enough to search for the mental shortcomings in Curry that I believe were there all along, but nobody prior to the Honeyghan fight had been good enough to discover. You can argue all day long about how weight drained Curry was/wasn't against Lloyd, but, say he WAS in decline at WW versus Lloyd, however much better the "real" Curry was than the one who fought Honeyghan, I'm more than sure that Manny was that much better than Lloyd too. I think it's likely that Curry would need more than plan a against Manny. Pac would ask a lot of very searching questions with the array of gifts he brings to the table, and the mentality he possesses. Over 12, Curry has a better chance If plan a works, but I don't think it does. Over 12 Manny wins, likely on points. Over 15, possibly a stoppage - maybe a corner retirement?
Curry wins. MANY Welterweights throughout history an beat Pacquiao at that weight. Hearns Robinson Walcott Langford Whitaker Leonard Duran etc Curry as well.
