This Pacquiao thing is tricky because the boxing purists that saw Floyd early on and his skills put aside the other dimensions of needing heart and a chin.
Higher up in class there are a lot more intagibles many which Floyd is lacking. Manny does great and rises to the top while Floyd fell off a cliff they feel like by accepting it this is an attack on how well the know boxing so they will defend ut no matter what. When Floyd loses they wil say his was injured.
It is only one fighter and yea they were wrong but so what.. move on. Manny is #1. If u backed Floyd u picked the wrong horse and find a new one.

If Pac were black he would perform a rap in the ring for him.

This article is stupid and bias.

Tim Smith and Teddy Atlas should just release the name of their source who saw emails from Pac's Team to Floyd's team implicating Pac was using steroids. I have a feeling I know who their sources are.

    Tim Smith's source: his ass

    Teddy Atlas' source: Tim Smith

    This for me.

TS seems to be more butthurt than anything. ''Pac's running sh*t now'' Give us a break fanboy.

He was making his point that he doesn't believe Pacquiao is the greatest fighter of all time, which is fair enough. I will agree that he ignores Pac's pre lightweight career though. It was a pretty mediocre article but it's only critical if you don't understand that he's measuring his career in comparison to the greatest fighters ever.

He's anywhere from approx top 5-40 ATG in my estimation. It really depends what your definition of greatness is; this could be climbing and winning titles across many weightclasses, or -beating other all time great opponents at their peak.

He has accomplished a great deal no doubt, but it's all about personal preference where he's placed. That's why we have menu's in restaurants.

Pac runs sh*t now. And Tim Smith knows it, which is why he felt the need to write his latest garbage column.

Did you read the piece? You saw the part about the "fiction" that Pac's the greatest ever, right? You saw it repeated over and over, right?

In other words, Tim Smith knows that his and his fellow Haters' spin on Pacquiao is failing. Why is it failing? Because: Pac's now an 8-division champion, the first in boxing's history; Floyd's allegedly beating up baby mama and poking security people in the eye and not making fights; and because the early word on the Margarito fight is 1.4M-1.5M PPV buys.

    Pac. Runs. Sh*t. Now.

I'm not a fanboy, but Tim Smith is. And he's butthurt His Guy "lost" the public relations battle with Pacquiao. The only battle, it seems, Floyd Mayweather is willing to accept with Manny Pacquiao.

Again, Smith lost any credibility he had as concerns Pacquiao with the email travesty. He hasn't made amends for that. Frankly, in my opinion, he's lucky he's still working at the Daily News after that stunt. People have been fired for less.

Smith doesn't seem to think Floyd will fight Pacquiao (who does?), so he's reduced to the kind of "hey, who could maybe beat Pacquiao and take away from his greatness?" fantasy matchmaking that the worst fanboys on ESB take part in. Hence, the James Kirkland mention. I'm almost surprised Smith didn't bring up Vitali.

    :rofl

You can disagree with the opponents, that's alright but Clottey was a top 10 at welterweight & Margarito would most likely still be a top 10 if he elected to or could stay at welterweight. They were legit fights, light middleweight belt aside...

You are starting with a pretty low bar. Making a ridiculous statement and then tearing it down should be a straightforward exercise. This would be like me saying, "Sarah Palin is the smartest woman in the world," and then citing numerous other women that clearly surpass her in intellect.

He started with the ridiculous premise, "Manny Pacquiao is the greatest fighter of all time," which he then attempted to shoot down. An objective writer should be able to refute that statement with a straightforward rundown of facts and historical comparisons. What makes the article so embarrassing is that Mr. Smith clearly finds Pacquiao's achievements so impressive, that he needs to suppress and spin them just to argue against Manny being GOAT.

As others have mentioned, Smith conveniently omits Barrera, Marquez, and Morales, in addition to Cotto, Clottey, and Margarito, as fighters that proved Pacquiao's greatness. Even funnier is the selection of fighters he suggests are Manny's best wins, "A faded ODLH, a bloated and already beaten Ricky Hatton, and an outgunned David Diaz." Floyd and Manny both fought a faded Oscar, but we must recall how everyone expected Pac to get decapitated by DLH. And Ricky Hatton "bloated" at 140? How does he end up bloated at his best fighting weight? Perhaps he meant to say, "Ricky Hatton, already beaten for the first time when bloated."

    How about simply:

Manny Pacquiao is the greatest current fighter
    .

Or would this be too much to ask of a professional Floyd nuthugger?

How dare we not think Floyd is #1... when he ISN'T.

If you don't like the fact that Floyd fights declining and/or bloated fighters you are now racist? Too funny.
