Erdei fighting a nobody on Martinez vs. Williams undercard

    Anyone knows what his plans are?
    He's still holding the WBC cruiserweight title right?

    The plan is for him to fight the rest of his career in America under DiBella. :conf Supposedly he wanted to compete for an American TV audience, but Martinez-Williams is paired with the Pacquiao-Margarito replay so no undercard bouts will be shown.

    That doesn't sound like a too bad plan. Hope DB sooner or later puts him in with a good LHW or CW fighter that we all know.
    In Germany he made career out of fighting nobodies.

    He relinquished the WBC CW title. Erdei only took the WBC CW title fight because Campillo the then WBA LHW champ & Cloud the IBF LHW pulled out of fighting against Erdei.
    Erdei is a fantastic LHW with a very good resume, and I wouldnt be shocked at all if he became the #1 LHW, in a few fights time. He has a better LHW resume than most

    The no. 1?!

    His resume is solid, although he mostly fought not well known to unknown (B)fighters.
    Do you really think he would beat Dawson, Pascal and Cleverly?

    Erdei is a good sleeper in the LHW division. Even if he fights nobodies, he has pretty good skills. He will definitely be an interesting challenger for any of the champs. However, he'll have to win an eliminator because he is a high risk low reward stock right now. He's unknown in America, so a promoter can't sell tix
    with him.

    Tune-up. Wonder if televised. The main event is awesome, but needs some co-features to get the buzz. One fight only cards are shitty, you tune in and it's main event already.

    I'm interested BTW what Erdei's plans are. Of ex-Universum fighters Kotelnik already debuted in the US - and got robbed -, Dzinziruk also impressed and Sidorenko is fighting Donaire. These are all fine boxers, just don't expect them to brawl (though that's what Erdei-Fragomeni was in a FOTY candidate).

    I agree, but this is what HBO almost always does the week after a big PPV (and people who missed it or skipped buying it usually appreciate a chance to watch the PPV's main event).

    When Showtime does it, they really have no excuse.

    Seemed like Universum forced him to move up so Brahmer could get the title imo. Wanted a German to have a belt. Braehmer had the WBO intrem and they knew he wouldn't beat Erdei.

    that was an awesome fight and Erdei only weighed 178 lbs to win the CW belt lol He doesn't even cut weight to make LHW.

    Erdei was an outstanding LHW champ, but without having the belt he can be avoided more than before. Erdei vs Braehmer would be a good fight for Erdei to take, if he had the chance
