Maidana has always been a dirty fighter. What's new?

    Not a cheap shot. Professionalism.
Touch gloves in the first and last round, to kind of say "have a good fight" and "thanks for the fight", respectively. Otherwise, keep your guard up.

Note that fighters who feel they are losing badly often want to touch gloves in the beginning of each round. It's been explained as being a subconscious way of signaling you're nice and friendly, so that the opponent won't hurt you as much.

Anyone remember the legend about how Sugar Ray Robinson wanted to touch gloves when it wasn't the first or last round, so his opponent said this isn't the last round?

Sugar replied it is for you!

Whilst I do think Ortiz went to touch, I have to agree with Leon here. Maidana's killer-instinct was in full swing, so he was right in attacking him, because it was only seconds later he managed to stop him.

It wasn't the last round. The round had just started. Protect yourself at all time.

Khan would make it look easy and stop this mindless slugger.

  9. It's one of Pac's flaws. The dude wants to touch gloves way too often. He tried to touch gloves with Cotto after the Round 1 bell and Cotto didn't even bother. Pac was being very obvious about it, too. I just hope that he doesn't get caught eventually.

    That wasn't a cheap shot.

That was an awesome punch to the dome.

  11. Another one of Pac's advantages?

    :think

    :rofl

  12. Shane is also guilty to a fault when it comes to touching gloves.

    You know...
I'm a much bigger fan of Mosley than Mayweather, but I thought that was cool. Many whined and complained about that afterwards, but hey: boxing match, remember? Not TV debate.
If your opponent complains to the referee about something, without the referee halting the fight: Punch him.
If your opponent adjusts his shorts in the middle of a fight: Punch him.
If your opponent does anything but keep his hands up at all times: Punch him.
