Williams got a gift in the 1st one and he was knocked out cold early in the 2nd. What's the point? Martinez would demolish him again.

Not for a while. I would also keep him away from guys like Kermit Cintron, Shane Mosley and Kelly Pavlik for a while, he really needs to rebuild his confidence and putting him in with a big puncher could be a bad idea this close to what just happened.

I don't mind a rubber match although i think its 2 - 0 now for Martinez .... at least this time he should get the big pay cheque and not Williams.

Also who else is Martinez going to fight ? there is noone around the 154/160 mark and seeing as Martinez is a small Middleweight do you really want him to tangle with some 168 pounders ?

Personally and i realize he is completely unproven yet.... i would love a fight between Martinez and Pirog (sadly it is a high risk low reward) because i think Pirog could be something special.

Anyhow Martinez is the man and probably the nr3 or 4 (between him and Marquez) P4P and if possible if he could get a HUGE payday vs Pac or Mayweather then all power to him he deserves it.

Not at all...neither Paul nor Quintana deserve a rematch. When you get stretched like that there is no need for a rematch. If you do get a immediate rematch more than likely you look like Roy vs Tarver 3 or Taylor vs Pavlik. A complete waste of time.

A third fight now does not make sense. That was a hard knockout loss. Williams took a huge punch. He is 2-0 against Martinez. I think he should fight Cintron or someone else and redeem himself, but fighting Martinez again makes no sense.

Due to the fight ending so early, it's hard to determine how good Williams looked/was looking. In the first round, yes, he may have edged it. He was closing the distance well on Martinez, and made it difficult for him to to get his shots off first.

But in the second, Martinez seemed to have figured the distance pretty well. He began tagging him far too easily with that left. And before you know it...BOOM!

But I understand why some people regard that as an abrupt ending, and would want to see a 3rd fight.

If Williams asks for it then why not, but if he doesn't then it's understandable and both can move on.

You would put him in with a guy like Cintron so close to a knockout like that?

Martinez is a nice enough guy to overlook that and give him a third fight. It's not like they have many other options anyway considering Sturm would only fight tomato cans.

This is going to be a good ongoing joke seeing the Quintana - Williams double standard.

Sergio whooped his ass twice, no point in a third.

I agree 100% with this. Also, Williams didn't have to give Sergio a rematch but he did he could easily fought one of the other belt holders at 147-160.

Williams just got smoked. He was getting tagged in the first round, not sure why people are saying he was winning, and I felt Martinez won their first fight.

No need for a rubber match.
