    what is good fashion?

but yeah, i agree that if martinez wins at least via very comfortable UD (8-4), he should get the FOTY over pac.

Wow...holy crap some people are ****ing histeronic tools around here...no disrespect to pac...but HTF would wins over Clottey and Margo earn someone fighter of the year? Seriously? What a ****ing stupid statement. If that earns someone fighter of the year then that award is just a popularity contest. There will probably be at least four fighters with better resumes then that....probably some already....**** I'd say beating Beating Diaconu with one arm and then beating beating Chad Dawson's has already got JP in the poll position. If he beats Hopkins...forget about it. And yes...if Martinez beats Williams he'll have a better claim then Pac.

Edit: Just check box-rec and pascal diaconu was mid December 2009....so that kinda negates what I was saying about him being out infront already...lol, may have got a little carried away there...

I think the TS means "Fighter of the Year" not "Fight of the Year".

As has been pointed out, the thread title is a little confusing.

FOTY is typically used to refer to "Fight of the Year". The way you're using it here it seems you're referring to something more along the lines of "Fighter of the Year", which is not what most people think of when they see FOTY on a boxing forum.

It's quite possible to be the Fighter of the Year and not be in the Fight of the Year, or to participate in the Fight of the Year and not be the Fighter of the Year. In fact, there have probably been very few instances of someone having anything to do with both.

A title edit might be appropriate. :good

He doesn't suck...nor was he drained or competing at less than 100% as his nuthuggers claim. He was the bigger stronger man and a heavy favorite and Martinez beat him very decisively.

Here again, Williams was a favorite despite being challenger for the middleweight title - and got KTFO after a round and a half of facial reconstructive surgery via the left-hand scalpel of Dr. Martinez.

Martinez was supposed to lose twice this year, and twice won in dominant fashion.

Pacquiao was supposed to win twice this year, and twice won in dominant fashion.

Both have a pair of wins over bigger stronger men where they looked great. The difference is that one was the underdog both times and the other wasn't.

There really doesn't appear to be any closeness in the matter, really.

Pacquiao shouldn't even sniff a Fighter of the Year vote, this is even before the Martinez-Williams fight. Pacquiao around 5 or so, that sounds about right, but he needed Martinez and Pascal to lose to even be considered...at least for me, but it's a moot point now Martinez is the clear frontrunner.

YES....he fought better opposition (than Clottey and Margo), and dominated.
