It's not like the ko was random either. Martinez was tagging him throughout the second fight and even had success countering in the first fight. People always refer to PW's size & reach but he doesn't use them as much as he should. It's not too late for him to consider doing so as he's not going to have longetivity fighting the way he currently does.

:nod The straight left landed almost non-stop in the first round and throughout the first minute of the second (just never as flush as it did in that epic moment).

    Martinez 10-9

Then cam the second round, and you all knew what happened. Without a doubt, Sergio Martinez is THE Middleweight Champion of the World.

    Uh
    Where is the SPLIT ?
Cause I had it even. Williams on Pressure and Martinez on the harder punches.
Though I thought that it would lead to a Williams victory ... but guess what. IDFM!
    It is all mute...

I respect your opinion, IB, but that's going too far the other way IMO. 15-20% fewer and I'd have given it to Williams.

PW started better than in the last fight. Although his early aggression lead to his demise.

I'll have to re-watch the first round. Thought it was close, even if Martinez landed more cleaner punches I thought PW showed aggression and landed his fair share too.

Yes I agree. After Williams fell I knew he wasn't going to beat the 10-count.

Martinez, cleaner blows and he managed to corner Williams

Williams just didn't land anything anywhere near as hard. Each one was just malicious and eye-catching (and there really were a lot of them, which is why IMO even halving them still leaves a good number...although some were more glancing than others, particularly the ones in close proximity to the clinches).

first round is always the hardest for me to score, gave pretty much the first 2 minutes of the fight to wiliams based on pressure and agression then up till the ko it was all martinez.

I agree they weren't as hard, but there were quite a few of them -- not enough to take the round, but it wouldn't have required an almighty swing to do so, IMO. We'll just have to agree to (marginally) differ.

Off-topic: Marquez-Katsidis. vBookie. Pretty please with bells on.
