I'm not sure if Williams defense or his tendancy to give up his height will ever be fixed but if anyone can do it, it would be Steward. Williams is such an amazing physical talent so it would be nice to see him learn from this, bounce back and come back better

Forget it, Williams is a good boxer but ive never seen any potential in him to be great, infact most his wins have been due to his size. It dont matter who you put in to train him if your at your talent limit your not guna get any better.

He might be too old to learn, but physically hes an unbelievable talent. He leads with his chin far too much and paid for it last night. Steward seems to like him so maybe they can work together

Sorry power , I think you are way of my friend , and it is not to do with Williams .

It is Steward , hearing his commentary last night , he noted how well Williams was doing , when in reality he must have ate about 6 or 7 good lefts before the final shot.

I think Steward is now a long way from his best , and would just try and do a Tommy hearns with him, which he isnt.

I would probably like to see him with a Nacho bernstein type , someone who can turn a fighter into a boxer.

I agree... Steward is probably the most overrated trainer today and I wouldn't want him near any of my favorite boxers... ironically he already is with Cotto... then again, shouldn't be worse from what Cotto had.

If Steward should team up with anyone it is Paul Williams, but I think Paul is too old. He is 29 going on 30, a little late to change up your fighting style.

He called it wrong but it doesn't mean he wouldn't tighten his defense and teach him how to fight tall. I get the feeling from Steward he doesnt always put the time into it but technically he is a good teacher

Me and many others at ESB have said this long time ago.

But I think It Might be too late For Williams at this stage..

Steward Managed to save Wladimir Klitschko so I wouldnt be surprised if Manny managed to make Williams a NEW man.:bbb

Williams will be far too set in his ways for anything good to happen of this scenario, its far from over though, i hope he doesnt turn into the next Jermain Taylor.

Steward would try and turn him into a complete outsided fighter though which isn't going to happen. The fundamentals aren't there; too much to learn to box in that manner.

It's not the way he fights that's the problem, it's his defence and always has been. He didn't get knocked out because he wasn't boxing from the outside, he got knocked out because he left himself open at the range he shouldn't be at.

When he's fighting up close and inside, he somehow manages to get his shots off despite those long arms, he throws a lot of punches with a two fisted attack from angles and he takes away his opponents punching room, which is important for somebody with on defence like him.

Martinez took him out because he wasn't inside to take away his punching room. He allowed Martinez too much time and space to find that shot. Dude just needs to keep his hands up as he comes inside, learn to jab his way in aswell and needs to keep his hands up inside when he's not punching rather than just looking to get off.

Steward always seemed smitten by Pauls height and reach. thats the qualities he loves in fighters, plus hes always saying how he takes a punch well which is rare for a guys as lanky as him. Two days ago I think he would have loved to train him. Today, not so sure. Possibly.

Years ago I would have said good idea. But now I know how fighters just do not change much. For Williams to be effective for Steward, he would have to be another fighter almost. It wouldn't hurt, but it wouldn't help much either.
