Tommy had fight ending power that Williams could never dream of, and Tommy was just a far more talented fighter in general, with a light years better skill set.
I am not sure Pavlik would hit him that clean. Totally different kind of puncher. But the way Williams fought, he was being a little careless. Being aggresive does not mean keeping your chin up. He can improve and get better.
The only way a tall fighter should fight is tall, and with an 82 inch span? Hearns was only 78 in comparison, but Tommy extended his jab fully and was more technical and always setting up punches. Not fighting tall means Williams is exposing his chin, and no matter what anyone says a taller fighter will have a weaker chin because his body is stretched out and there is not enough bulk to cushion the punches, like a shorter compact guy.
One thing I did not expect was a 2nd round knockout. I thought maybe Martinez would win a decision, and it if was a knockout he would get him hurt and keep hurting him and maybe stop him with accumulation. This I did not expect at all. Very similar to the Roy Jones Jr. Tarver fight. Got hit as he was throwing.
I felt the same way. I wanted Martinez to win, but Paul is an awesome dude and I'd like to see him win big in the future. They're both really cool guys.
