He needs someone who can teach him defense or how to use his height/reach. I'm not sure if Joy Sr or Steward would be willing to train him, he fights too dumb!
Retire. You made some nice cash, got a bunch of suckers to believe you were some "most avoided" bull**** (What a laugh that was! Goosen should have his promoter's license revoked for trying to pass that crap off). That KO will be in his head now for a long time....he is seeing it in his head right now....while he sleeps he sees it...everywhere he walks he sees it... He won't recover. He believed all the B.S. they were spouting off about him. All he did was talk.......and talk......and talk.......and talk some more. Now he can't say anything, his promoter can't say anything and he is not feared by anyone...shouldn't have been feared in the first place. Get out.....or else ANOTHER BAD KO is waiting for you. He is also quite a dumb/stupid? fighter who never listens or alters strategy, so a new trainer will be no use to him. He is just too stubborn and hard headed. Once you are KO'ed in that manner that badly, you suffer KO's easier the next time.
I'm not sure if Williams would be willing to get a new trainer though. His current trainer took him out of the hood and is like a father figure to him.
i was thinkin this too. he should stick with peterson but change his style to be a little more defensive
He needs to do a Wlad and get a new trainer and regroup. No reason why he can't have many more years at the elite level if he makes the right changes now.
I can understand and admire that in him if that is his attitude, but I fear he will suffer in the ring for it.
PTP is who he is and will prolly never adopt a more slicker style. He's a longer, faster, southpaw version of Margarito, only with a lesser chin, kind of.
He's still young enough to make changes. He needs to use his size man. This is the most understated thing anyone can put in his ear. Replace all those sweeping stupid hooks and uppercuts with jabs. Jab jab and jab some more until you find the range on your straight left. After you perfect that THEN think about using uppercuts or hooks. I think Manny (the trainer, not the fighter) could really do wonders for him. That style would be perfect for 160lbs with Paul's height and reach. Boring yes but Paul does have pop in his straight left. He just needs to get rid of all that other dumb ****.
