He's just looking for a payday. Sure he's fast but he's nowhere near that level yet IMO. Can't blame him for trying to get himself a nice fat payday though
Berto needs to get passed some Hernandez guy that nobody heard of and may not even be his name, but don't fault me cuz I never heard of him, before he even thinks of fighting Pac.
Why all the hate? He's just doing his job. Besides, he has admitted on camera that he is a fan of Pac so I don't quite buy into the suggested animosity. He makes a good point. When was the last time you saw Pac beat a guy with great speed and reflexes? Berto has done enough to earn himself a shot. Nobody wants to see Pac give old man Mosley brain damage. At least Berto is still young enough to recover from injuries if he should get beat. Pac would have also proven something new by defeating someone who's not a mummy. It's not a bad idea to fight Berto. If not him then try the winner of Alexander/Bradley. Mosley and Cotto are unacceptable choices.
For a guy with such great reflexes, I think he was hit over 300 times by Estrada. Then he went life and death with Collazo, who is by NO MEANS a big puncher. What he brings that's new to his aresnal is holding, which considering his very weak chin, is something he desperately needs.
Pac wins with a 9rd ko.. good fight for 4/ 5 rounds maybe.. but honestly.. Berto is a better matchup than Mosley, JMM, and Bradley...
Pac's not exactly a defensive genius either. Berto might have enough power in his punches to slow down Pac just a bit. The speed will bother Pac. Keep in mind Pac wasn't the most well rounded fighter when he relied on nothing but a straight left. It's really about giving back and challenging someone who is the next best thing after Mayweather. I wouldn't bet on Berto to win but at least I'd be watching something new and fresh. I'm tired of the same old trick Team Pac has been showing us.
It's good to see Berto speaking up. His inexperience would, probably, be his undoing. But, his physical ability would make it interesting for as long as it lasted. He's young, fast, and strong. A combination of attributes, I can't recall seeing Pac face. These younger fighters need an opportunity....and closed mouths don't get fed. So they need to start calling out Pacquiao and Mayweather now. Berto could use the exposure and he does make some valid points. He really does not have much to lose...no shame in losing to an ATG fighter, in his prime. And if he somehow wins...he will be HUGE.
Just remember, if Pac hopes to force Mayweather out of hiding, he also needs to eliminate other guys Floyd could fight. Floyd doesn't have a title at the moment, so he could justify fighting Berto for a championship. Pac needs to take out Berto to limit Floyd's options.
You gotta have a resume before you call out the P4P King. You gotta have a spectacular performance (1 punch KO would be fine) to date to call out the P4P King. You gotta have at least one elite fighter, which he does not, to call out the P4P King. Berto got no business running his mouth. Pac ate middleweight uppercuts/liver shots. Berto ain't doing **** to Pac. :deal
That Collazo fight really made me lose respect for Berto. Hatton was physically more competitive with Collazo in just about every round than Berto was, who was outworked a whole lot. Mosley looked prime against Collazo. I don't think Collazo got any better. I think Berto just doesn't quite hold up well at the sub elite level. Pac should have a pretty easy night if the speed and strength to push around don't get Pac buzzed early, and they won't.
Sounds like Berto's trying to talk his way into a big fight. Considering the amount of people that have constantly criticized him for allegedly ducking big fights, you would think his comments might garner some praise. Then again, haters will hate on both sides of the fence.
