The upcoming fight between JMM and Michael Katsidis certainly seems like a dangerous one for Marquez. After all, Katsidis is coming off a strong perfromance, knocking out the capable British boxer Kevin Mitchell. Katsidis is also a powerful puncher with KO power and a relentless, bruising style.

But, really, can you imagine this guy KOing Marquez? Manny Pacquiao had 24 rounds to KO Marquez and Floyd had 12. Neither succeeded. Marquez by most accounts has a good chin.

I'm going to go ahead and say that I find a Katsidis KO of Marquez highly unlikely (5% chance?)

OK, then we're left with whether Katsidis could beat Marquez on points. Is this really a likely scenario? An aggressive come forward, not-all-that-technically-solid Australian bruiser is going to outpoint the technical master, counter-puncher-extraordinaie, JMM? Really?

So, for those who think Katisidis wins, how do you think he does it? Persuade me not to put a couple hundred on Marquez to win. Walk me back off the ledge.

(I wish you would have told me last night that Martinez was capable of KOing PW)

Well pacquaio beat marquez by points and you saw how that went, Katsidis style is tailor made for Marquez, hell come in while marquez will pick him apart. If Katsidis cant KO marquez, which he probably wont, then you gotta outbox him.

No, Juan Manuel Marquez is too skilled a boxer and too smart.

true, Pacquiao and Chris John both took Marquez on points. But I consider those two to be far better boxers than Katsidis.

I suppose if Katisidis hurts Marquez early and then batters a weakened JMM around all night he could win on points.

Despite the fact that Marquez survived against Pac and Floyd, I feel like he really is vulnerable to a heavy handed fighter with good timing at this point in his career.

He cuts easily now, as does Katsidis, so I expect to see blood. I feel like he can be hurt easily too with an elite puncher, but his instincts make him hard to finish off. I could see Katsidis hitting him with a bomb and wobbling him, but the opposite is just as likely to happen. I think this is a 85/15 type of fight, but I really can see Katsidis landing a nice flush shot and Marquez just going down. It just is not that likely. Pac might have stopped Marquez in one round with a different ref, it would have been justified. Diaz was surely pushing him around in the corner a whole lot in the first fight, and he is not even that strong. A stoppage is possible either way without a lot of accumulation.

I guess it all comes down to how fadded JMM is. I don't think is far gone enough to lose to Kasidis but it is gonna be fun to watch either way.

Yeah, I agree Kats could get a KO/TKO if he lands some flush bombs. That's why I really ask whether there's a scenario where he gets a decision. That's the outcome I find difficult to imagine -- i.e. Katsidis winning 7 rounds against JMM.

i actually have a feeling katsidis will win the fight i think marquez has slipped a bit and katsidis has improved his defence and his boxing a lot since his two losses and looked very impressive against mitchell hes nowere near the level marquez is in terms of technique but hs a massive lightweight with big power and marquez looks small as a lightweight we saw how easily diaz backed him up
for me katsidis is now on the level that diaz was going in to the first marquez fight and he was winning the early rounds till he gassed but katsidis has better stamina and alsoi think if marquez is on the ropes against katsidis he will be hurt a lot more and possibly stopped although im putting my money on a close decision for katsidis not to mention a lot of judges score aggression way to highly over clean punching and katsidis will come forward all night
