BOTH of them have been "exposed" or whatever u want to call it, but should they fight each other? I think this fight is probably more appealing right now than ever b4... it could be a good scrap. They should be hungry for redemption...then again, fight 4 what? The better SM's leftover ***** award??
Paul Williams is still a great slugger and a strong boxer, he wasnt exposed at all. Martinez still won the first fight the way i see it but it was a close competetive fight. Pavlik on the other hand just beat a gassed taylor in the first fight and a cautious one in the second. Dont know what damage has been done to PW from both SM fights and the Cintron leap frog incident kinda left him without a decent tune up but if the two fought (which is the only fight that makes sense for Pavlik unles PW fights margarito/cotto) then PW comes away with the decision. not ruling out a Pavlik KO but see how PW does in his next fight before taking on the ghost
Interesting post. I make many posts about fighters being too hyped, when they havent fought many good fighters or havent prevailed against many different styles. The same thing is happening now with Ward, for having one good win against an unwell double vision suffering fighter, who had already been exposed. I openly predicted in 2 threads before the fights that Dawson and P Williams would lose their respective fights and gave the reasons why. Dawsons big wins were over fighters 14-15 years older, and Williams had many points I noted. As for Pavlik and Williams, I dont know who was hyped the biggest, they were both hyped big. As for them fighting each other. It would give them both a good payday and the winner will have many fans saying it was just a blip, until they get exposed again etc. As for now the list has grown - A Tarver C Dawson A Dirrell J Lacy K Pavlik D Jacobs P Williams J Taylor
This should be the best thing that happened to PW. Maybe ppl less scared to face him and he can work on his defense and using his height and he will be better than ever.
You can add in F for Froch. He won't be fighting after Saturday. The curse of the Super six continues.
Froch hasnt been exposed yet. Its the same with Pascal. Froch beat Pascal in a close fight which showed in defeat that Pascal wasnt a hype job. Froch only lost away in a close fight which showed he wasnt a hype job. I thought Froch would be on that list, but he has so far managed to save himself. I predict that Froch will take at least one massive clean shot against Abraham, but I think Froch is going to beat Abraham, and think he may also do it inside the distance. Froch wins. AA is another hype job. He was a MW champ with no big name wins who was being beaten by Dirrell for most parts, who had been beaten by Froch in his fight before. The only reason AA wasnt on the list above is because he was new to SMW and might never do much at that weight
:yep I know.. It's getting a bit funky... these guys are pathetic.... I wonder if NeckBreakinA stalked Williams after this fight, as usual, or if he was too busy crying like a li'l girl after the ko?? I guess they don't have enough balls to come out after all the smack they talked about PW.... anyways, if any of you NBAiken or WalkWithMe r out there, remember..... I TOLD U SO!!!!!!!!!!!! OHhhhhh, sorry, it just feels sooooooo good!!!:yep
For Chrissakes... Pavlik beat top10 P4P-er and lineal MW champion Taylor in one of the best MW fights ever, and Williams beat a prime Margarito at 154, the 1-2-3 best LMW in Phillips and top10 P4P-er Wright at 160 where Winky never lost a fight. They were no hype jobs and didn't become one, they simply lost to an awesome fighter in Maravilla, and you must have a pretty low opinion on Martinez if losing to him qualifies you as 'hype job'.
both are shot to hell, but i'm tellin you Paul Williams ain't the same fighter. the problem with Pavlik is that he peaked against Taylor. He's been sh*t ever since. Pavlik's got great wins against Taylor, and a prime Edison Miranda.
both were hypped pretty heavily I remember Pavlik was being put into the same category as Hagler,Hearns,Robinson and Monzon from several posters here. I also got tired of seeing a new thread of how "Pavlik's _________ is underrated" and it was usually defense, footwork, speed, combinations, bodywork, jab, headmovement but then Hopkins exposed all of those Pavlik attributes to be overrated.
knee jerk reaction as usual on here. pavlik is more disappointment than hype. he earned his hype, it wasnt given to him. he earned his title shot too, it wasnt given to him. he was the first to stop zuniga, mckart, zertuche...none of whom are great but all of whom are tough. they still wouldnt give him a title shot and instead made him fight miranda. that was supposed to be a coming out party for edison. he and taylor were talking **** to eachother, acting like kelly wasnt there. kelly destroys him. destroys taylor. beat jermain in the rematch in one of jermain's best fights. he earned his hype. kelly pavlik has been a complete and utter disappointment since the taylor fights...but he earned his hype. williams did too. nobody beats margo and then jumps and totally dominates winky wright...even that version of winky. he also took the martinez fight on short notice after having prepared to fight kelly pavlik. to say these guys are hype jobs trivializes how good martinez is. either martinez is a top 3 p4p fighter and is just that much better than williams and pavlik, or martinez isnt that good and pavlik and williams are just hype jobs. it can't be both. martinez is just that good.
