This is why Pacquiao is a much better fighter than Morales ever was.

I could here take the angle that Pacquiao has been p4p#1 for 3 years whereas Morales never was.

Or I could take the angle that Pacquiao has a stronger, better resume than Morales.

Or I could take the angle that Pacquiao has achieved far, far more in his career than Morales.

Or I could take the angle that Pacquiao beat him over their trilogy, though admittedly that point is pretty weak as Morales was noticeably better at 122 and 126 than he was at 130.

But I'm not going to focus on any of these areas in this thread, I am going to focus on the fact that Pacquiao has better ability and is a better fighter all-round than Morales was.

Many people on here seem to think that Morales was better, but in reality that belief just simply does not stand up.

My main point for this is that across his prime, Morales got dragged into gruelling, tough fights with lesser opponents.

And whenever I say this, I get the same reply from Morales fans:

"Yeah but that's because Morales was a warrior, he liked to take shots and give shots, and give the fans an entertaining fight, he liked to go to war, etc etc etc"

Now, this just does not make sense at all.

Erik Morales got dragged into wars of attrition against fighters like In-Jin Chi and Wayne McCullough, amongst others.

And yes, this is because Morales was a warrior and wanted to go to war.

BUT, when a warrior goes to war, if he is much better at going to war than his opponent, then his opponent either gets stopped or gets dominated to the point that the fight is one-sided.

Erik Morales did not have the ability to completely dominate or stop two guys the same size as him in McCullough and Chi (OK, no-one is going to stop a prime McCullough, but Morales failed to dominate him anyway).

Manny Pacquiao does not box his opponents like Pernell Whitaker or Wilfred Benitez.

Manny Pacquiao goes to war. But when prime Manny Pacquiao goes to war, his opponents cannot stand up to the war.

Whereas Morales had to stand in the trenches with Chi and McCullough until the final bell rings, when Pacquiao goes to war with the likes of Cotto and Margarito, they try and do what McCullough and Chi did and make it a close, competitive fight, but they are unable to do so, and then get dominated and/or stopped.

AND, most crucially, Cotto and Margarito are BETTER fighters than Chi and McCullough, but also Cotto and Margarito were much BIGGER as compared to Pacquiao than McCullough and Chi were as compared to Morales.

    Conclusion:

Prime Morales goes to war with lesser fighters his own size, and has tough, gruelling fights because he does not have the quality to dominate/destroy them.

Prime Pacquiao goes to war with better, bigger fighters who are bigger than him, and he has the quality to dominate/destroy them.

    It's called logic dudes. :good

Over the hill Morales still beat Pac before getting his ass schooled by Zahir Raheem.

BTW, why you Pacquiao fans always drag down Pac's opposition and rivals?

Was this a recent argument you're responding to about who was better? Because if it was, I must have missed it, Pop.

Is this cause past prime Morales beat Pac once? Is this the reason for your thread?

a green pacquiao of course. it don't necessarily need a thread as it is obvious by now but i think the OP is just in for a discussion and friendly debate. both guys are warriors and pac gave credit to morales as the best boxer he has fought.

Morales kinda fights according to opposition. Just like Joe Cal. You shouldn't hold it against him.
