Can Stewart teach Paul Williams to fight tall, like he did hearns and the klits?

First of all I'm not comparing williams to Tommy Hearns so I don't wanna her that backlash bull****.

Two things I noticed with the fight last Saturday was Stewart sucking Paul's dick early, and Peterson giving Paul instruction that got him knocked out.

Stewart seems to like Paul so I was wondering if he can teach Paul How to fight tall like hearns being that he trained hearns and hearns used the hell out of his height, he also taught the klits to fight tall, and showed one of them how to protect their weak chin. I would like to see Stewart take on this challange and see if he can revive williams career.

    what do ya think

Psychologically, Paul Williams is done. Beside Steward is not interested in training Williams.

Some guys have all the physical advantages in the world and they just dont have the timing or ability or just plain dont want to use it. Corrales, Bowe, and now Williams are all good examples of fighters who preferred to fight in close than use their height and reach.

and what made you say that? because he got viciously knocked out? there's already a lot of precedents that say otherwise. the jury's still out on williams.

Jesus. Don't you think it's a bit too soon to say he's done? Amir Khan got knocked the **** out and he's better than ever now.

It's **** that this is how things work around here. If you're knocked out then you're instantly done. If you win a few fights after being knocked out, before going on to lose in the future people discredit the win by saying "Well, he was knocked out and softened up by so and so".

Basically, the only way to build a respectable resume around here is to only fight undefeated fighters. Although, these will then turn into 'hype jobs' once they lose.

    He'll claim 4 typo's.

In answer to the thread, no. It's not Paul's game. You think at 29 he's just going to lose his tendencies to brawl and rush inside throwing punches? And that he's going to pick up an ability to control the range and judge distance, better his timing, actually develop a jab and some lateral movement?

No. He doesn't need a trainer like Steward. What he needs is somebody who's going to improve his defence. It's all well and good training 90% conditioning/10% technique as Peterson claims, but that makes him look bad as a trainer. It's all well and good being in the condition to make 147-154 at 6'3" and throw 1000 punches a round, but if he's got no defense, Martinez mark 2 is right around the corner.

Well Willams is facing an uphill battle. He cant fight succesfully at higher weights like a wide open amatuer. His fights are going to start resembling Ricardo Mayorga fights. He has to change his style if hes going to compete at higher weights. He has the height and reach, he needs to use it better. He can still throw a lot of punches, but he has to set it up with a jab and throw tighter combos.

In this day and age fighters seem to be able to comfortably fight into their mid-30s so it isn't totally unforseeable to see him build himself back up and make another serious crack with the A-classers in 3 or 4 years time. Whether or not that's enough to fix up his game is hard to tell without speaking to him on whether he has that dedication to truley improving.

With Dan Goosen as his promoter dont expect him to bring him back cautiously and carefully. All that guy cares about is what fight is worth the most money.
