Wlad's mythical glass chin - ~1900 days have passed since his last knockdown

Wladimir had 10 fights within these 5 years and 2 months and wasn't knocked down once. Not one single time.

I always shake my head when Wladimir Klitschko is written off in purely speculative phantasy match ups versus heavy handed fights like Tyson, Foreman or Lewis like he's a bum (prime '88 Tyson KTFO1 @press conference ololol) because of his allegedly weak chin. Well, as a matter of fact Wladimir was knocked down 11 times if I'm correctly informed (I heard the number here and there, boxrec hasn't documented all of his KDs) which is a lot, I gotta give you that.

But when you look deeper into his resume and his KDs then you'll notice he's never been knocked out. Some users claim Sanders has KTFOed him but being stopped on your feet surely doesnt qualify as a KTFO. Whenever he was down he had the heart to stand up - nobody ever gives him credit for his heart, whereas Holyfield or Tyson (who was stopped every time he lost + 1DQ) are remember as fighters with a lot of heart and passion.
Most of his early KDs pre-Steward had a lot to do with him having no idea what to do when being hit. It wasn't a matter of a weak chin or naturally shaky legs, it was rather something psychological which is the reason why I think his chin issues were only temporary.

He got hit, he didn't expect it, he panics and doesn't know what to do and takes a knee or goes down completely not because of pain but cluelessness. That's the pattern for almost all of his KDs and has hardly anything to do with a weak chin.
The science of good and bad chins is still widely unexplored and people tend to focus more on the times a chin fails on a fighter than when it keeps him up when it comes to judging the punch resistance. Even in 2010 users bring up the Sanders bout which was 7 (!!!) years ago and act like nothing's changed since then. In my opinion Steward was the best thing that could've happened to Wladimir because he didn't only improve his overall boxing skills but also calmed him down and showed him how to act and what to do when a 250lbs HW hits you. Due to Wlad's jab the majority of his opponents did not get the chance to hit him cleanly but a few did (Brock and Thompson for example) and Wladimir made the impression to have learned how to deal with it.

My theory is that Wlad had no glass chin to begin with. It was his mental state when being hit which was unstable and Manny Steward just had to fill the gap with his experience to make Wladimir the complete fighter he is today (some say he lacks inside fighting but I believe a fighter bigger than 99% of his opponents has no business fighting inside. Hello@PW).

Actually I had a lot more to write but I'm afraid nobody would read it so let me know what you think about Wladimir's chin and whether you still consider him a KO waiting to happen after all these years of KDlessness.

In the rematch Peter came in lighter than in 2005. Don't you think it might have to do with Wlad improving than Peter declining?

Peter is four years younger than him also.

What an idiot you are. It's been 1900 days since Wlad improved and worked on his style, ironing out his defensive problems and sorting out his fight gameplans. If Wlad fought the way he did in 2005 nowadays, he would have been knocked down or knocked out by now. He has improved his stlye vastly since the Peter fight, and this stops opponents from connecting with his chin.

    Are you really that naive?

No doubt his tactics are not to get hit and that he's worked on that immensly since he hooked up with Steward.
I don't see how this contradicts my point mentioned in the OP.

No. He's barely been hit. He's super cautious now.

The question is how many times has he been hit since changing his style? Has he been getting hit and taking the punches or has he just stopped getting hit? I think the answer is quite clear. If there is any point to be made, it is that his chin really doesn't even matter because of what he has going for him.

Well there's a fault on my part for not reading your OP

I saw the title 'Wlad's mythical glass chin' and presumed you were trying to say Wlad has a better chin than he did previously. As we can see by the change in styles Wlad has made, their is no evidence to support that theory.

Yoo cant hit what you cant reach. Wladimir is a perfect example of this, his chin is most likely average imo.
