I am a fan of Hops for the most part, but I see Pascal beating him, likely by stoppage. With B-Hops racist tendencies and disrespecting his opponents and all his out of ring antics, karma will bite him in the ass as it always does. This fight is in Quebec and against a REAL light heavyweight, and a strong young, hungry one. I see the bully getting bullied this time out and it will be a humbling experience for Bernard.
I cant see him winning this no way, jean pascal is a strong mother****er thats for sure, and i just think hes too young for b-hop.
Typically I would agree in reference to Hopkins age, and his potential to upset the younger, stronger fighter. This instance is a bit different, A) Hopkins style doesn't require a lot of physical gifts, it requires a lot of craftsmanship, I think he will be able to fight his fight and have the same kind of success he's always had (ugly/boring but effective), B) Pascal is a vulnerable and marginal champion at best, the Dawson fight was a horrible performance by Chad but nothing about what Pascal did was "impressive" per se'. Which is why you say BHop immediately jump all over this fight, if he didn't believe he would/could win he wouldn't have taken the fight. Pascal just isn't that good, and I think Hopkins is going to expose him, even if Pascal still "wins" the fight.
hopkins will want martinez after pascal if he gets the win, i think he will love that fight to show his greatness against the new middleweight king. also with martinez beating 2 americans in pavlik and williams makes the fight easy to sell if hopkins roles back the years and have a good performance against pascal.
Call me stupid if you want, but I find the ''WBC diamond belt'' not that ******ed (at least, less than the so-called semi-championship belts like silver WBC and 2 of the WBA titles). You don't defend you diamond belt, it's just an award that says you fought in a high profile WBC bout (this is just the second one they give, the first one being for Pac-Cotto, so it's not THAT useless). Plus, I think the WBC doesn't ask sanctioning fees for it (it's only honorific)...
He might be the most disciplined 40+ in the sport. It's hard to believe he still has that kind of commitment. I was a bit dismissive of him in his heyday. I've got so much respect for that though.
