This thread gets done every once an awhile, but there's a lot of new posters and also I am just curious what peoples answers will be from so many different ages and places. Was it from family, because you liked doing it, or was it a certain fighter that captured your attention, or just the beautiful brutality that boxing holds? What made you a fan of boxing?
i was a casual fan up until late 2007 and then the hype for mayweather/hatton drew me in and ever since then my love for the sport has grown. I will watch anyone box now and will watch old fights and study fighters on youtube. love to bet on it and do very well a lot of people blast sky sports but the hype for may/hatton was unreal, they nailed it
Well I'm only 17 years old, and from being pretty young I used to watch K1 and shitloads of muay-thai/mma.. Started training muay-thai from since I was 11 till when I was 14, then my dad's friend who trains boxing started taking me on the pads and stuff every once in a while.. Then I started to watch it on the tv because I liked to try and point out technicalities and stuff, and now I have a pretty big obsession with it
Nice.. Love hearing of relatively new fans come into boxing, showing that there are still fighters, and fights, that can bring people in. :good
Watching Naseem Hamed Vs. Jose Badillo while I was in hospital getting my appendix out. I think I was 6 at the time.
my dads love for Ali got me into it.. and this: This content is protected my fellow fans from the 90's during tysons era will remember this puppy!!
started with muay thai, thats cool man, thats kinda how I got into boxing too in a roundabout way lol. Very cool Robson. :thumbsup
My dad used to box and has always been a fan of the sport, so growing up, he used to tell me stories about all the different fighters throughout the ages, which I loved even as a young kid. I have an older brother too, so me and him would always be play fighting and my dad would teach us little thing about the sport. I think the actual thing which got me really interested though was a boxing game. It was on the Sega Megadrive and I loved it. I even remember one time I played my brother and the game went on so long, my dad took over from us, when our fingers got tired I was Jack Dempsey and my brother was Rocky Marciano. It's funny how I still remember that, but I think that's where my love came from. Anyone else remember this?: [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greatest_Heavyweights_of_the_Ring[/ame]
i was an exceptionally talented fighter, used to beat people on the streets just for the fun of it so i was always into violence from a young age. at around 6 or 7 i used to love watching boxing, my dad bought me ali video's and when i got a bit older i was into larry holmes, ray leonard, hagler, hearns, tyson, chavez, nigel benn, roy jones. to this day i still have a ridiculous collection of video's that i taped off tv from the above mentioned fighters.
It's funny read comments from older fans. I love this sport so much, I feel a lot of envy towards those who have seen so much more than me. I listened to a Bert Sugar story the other day, and he was talking about how he first fell in love with boxing and I was left thinking "Damn, I wish I could have been around for Robinson, Frazier and Napoles" Though I've only been a hardcore fan for less than a decade, so I have a lot of great fights and fighters to see yet.
i would ferociously maul you, brutally dismantle you in jeff lacy fashion :deal your face would be like your avatar within one minute
