First Martinez knocks out Cintron, the ref blows call and the fight is ruled a draw (robbery)....then he takes the PW fight on two weeks notice, gets robbed again in a close one, gets no immeadiate rematch.

Fights Pavlik on HBO and they were ready for Pavy to do anything to make it close and rob Sergio yet again. The whole telecast had me pissed, with them going on about how Pavlik is turning it around, yet I see Martinez giving Pavlik an unmerciful beatdown.

Rematches PW, Martinez is forced to sign at a catchweight of 157? comes into fight and during the HBO telecast Steward immeadiately starts saying PW is in control dominating the fight etc .....etc....setting the stage yet again for some bull****, Im furious then ........BAM! PW is KTFO!!!!!

Im happy for Martinez he deserves it, hope he gets that big money fight somehow!

He's one of my favorite fighters- besides the great point made by the thread starter, the dude's a straight shooter and is as classy as they come. Boxing can never have enough fighters and people in the sport like that. Even when boxing was disrespecting him, he never lost his respect for the sport; Martinez always shows up in the best condition possible, will fight the best, and leaves everything in the ring. Much respect to Maravilla!!

I said after the Bunema fight that this guy was going to be a serious problem for anyone he faces.

this makes me rethink condoning a fight with pacquiao... so he can have that money fight.

Floyd can go up to 154 I suppose and it's a good option for pbf to get one up off pacquiao without actually fighting him.

other names but less money: Pavlik, Cotto and ... uhh not many draws out there really, especially at 160

Yea I remember watching all those fights. What I remember most though was during the Kelly Pavlik fight hearing one of the commentators commenting...

"Well this is about as good as you can get when starting to box at the age of 20" or something of that nature...

Meanwhile Sergio was kicking Pavliks ass...

  11. One could argue that the Burger King crown was a bit much, and pretty Floyd-easque in douchebaggery.

    Great ****in' thread.

I never saw it like that before, but the man had everything going against him. Robbed against Cintron (...perhaps the biggest robbery in Boxing history considering his opponent got ****ing counted out), then he doesn't get the decision in a fight I and many others felt he won, and what was all that **** about Williams winning? The guy was getting tagged on a consistent basis, and now we have people saying it was a lucky punch, even though he throws and lands the exact same shot on two previous occasions in round 2 before the knockout.

Martinez broke through...he wouldn't be denied!
