I watched some of the Pavlik fight again today, and the commentators were indeed looking for any excuse to credit Pavlik. Martinez schooled him in reality.

Martinez doubled Pavlik in power punches landed. Sergio was repeatedly landing with sneaky jabs inside as he was moving laterally out of danger...and not one commentator ever mentioned it. If that had been Pavlik, "Pavlik is now starting to land with clean shots".

Pavlik had his moments in the mid-rounds but the decision should have never been in question. Martinez won convincingly...against a Pavlik who, in my opinion, was every bit as good as he was before the Hopkins beat-down. Look, Taylor wasn't moving at all. If you move with Pavlik he doesn't know what to do, and that's never changed.

Don't even get me started with the fight on Saturday. Williams was getting tagged every time Martinez threw his left hand. Williams was not fighting "the perfect fight" (Steward) and at no stage was he ever "landing with clean shots". (Kellerman)

I don't know why Martinez has to put up with this **** but he seems un-phased by it. "Want to let a fighter continue after counting him out? Want to give the benefit of the doubt to the bigger name? Wanna credit Pavlik every time he threw his arms out in front of him? **** it, I'll start knocking these cats out".

The way they treated Martinez over his knockout of Kermit = FAIL. There should be some kind of body to turn over stupid decisions.

I also had him beating Paul the first time, but at least Paul came there to box.

I saw it the way you saw it. However, sometimes there are very legitimate disagreements. Sometimes people may see fights in a completely different way than you do; it doesn't mean they are conspiring in a malicious manner. There is a certain amount of subjectivity in boxing...

Also, the first Williams fight wasn't a robbery; it was a close fight that could have gone either way.

One judge had an outrageously wide scorecard. What does this tell us? It tells us that at least one judge that night had no intention of letting Martinez walk out of the arena with a belt unless Williams was knocked out cold. He was robbed...in a sense.

it happens so much on HBO.... PW just reminds Steward so much of his prodigy Hearns that Steward loses all objectivity without even realizing it. Time and again a challengers good work and punches are all but ignored while the Favorites flurries are raved about, Lampley in particular will simply go nuts...they need to call it like it is, man we need a Howard Cosell type these days...........

That is a valid point. That one judge was either paid or didn't know enough about the sport to be scoring it. So I hear you on that one...
