Thats such an ignorant analysis though, "avoid getting stuck on the end of a jab", thats easier said than done. Don't get me wrong, i like Haye and will be rooting for him against either Klitschko, but theres about 3 British people on this forum who actually approach him with even a semblance of objectivity. He doesn't need to keep his hands up against particularly average opponents, but he isn't Roy Jones, he has horrible footwork and he can be hit. The problem with referring to the Maccarinelli and Harrison fights is he only really cut loose once he hurt them with a solid shot whilst fighting at a slow pace. Against Wlad, he would have to attack aggressively to have a chance at landing frequently and after seeing how tentative he is in the HW division, i can't see that occurring. Haye also can't fight on the inside, and has poor footwork and balance in awkward close up exchanges, so i can see him being fairly clinchable. The big thing people ignore totally about Haye is offensively he is incredibly wild. He squares up and throws wide looping punches from a mid-range hittable distance, with limited head movement and no guard. He is so effective with it because of his natural speed and power, but this is against relatively average opponents. Haye will always have a punchers chance in the matchup, but its a small one.
I'd say "especially Vitali" if anything. Though neither Klitschko are accurate punchers against movement, so as long as Haye stays on his toes, he doesn't have much to worry about. Wlad is scared to throw anything other than a jab against a moving opponent and Vitali's lacks the balance to be an effective puncher against moving opposition.
Haye has a punchers chance against Wlad, yes he is capable of a KO but Wlad is still a 60-40 favourite imo
Haye doesn't have the size or imposing style to stop Wlad from jabbing him into a lopsided decision or 1 punch stoppage. I wouldn't give Haye 2 rounds against Wlad. If Vitali wasn't 39 I wouldn't give Haye a round against him. No big slag on Haye, he is a fast power puncher, but these guys are two big euro-heavies who rarely lose a round.
Yep, it's hardly a secret, how to beat the Klits...it's just that they keep picking opponents that are incapable of exploiting it. Haye has done the same too to a certain extent but I think when the fights finally happen Haye will be the one with all the tricks up his sleeve. Everyone knows what the Klits can do yet Haye always has the equaliser - not his power but his speed. Out of the 2 fights I'd worry more about VITLAY if I were Haye. WALDO, well we all know what he'll do, he'll try to get Haye on the end of the jab and will be cautious until he's got Haye where he wants him and this won't work as Haye will counter it with aggression and bomb WALDO out early. VITLAY can actually go to war with Haye if he has to and doesn't have a fragile egg chin to worry about. Unfortunately he's now too old to be able to hang with Haye and will lose just like his brother, but he could land a lucky punch I guess, as could WALDO. I'd make Haye the favourite in both matches though, speed kills.
Who has Wlad beaten that is so much better than Haye? That is your question? Let me pose another question. Who has Haye beaten to prove he's even as good as the guys Haye has beaten. Valuev? Holyfield beat Valuev before Haye did. Ruiz? Are you kidding me? And of course there's Harrison. His competition so far at HW is getting progressively worse. I don't think Haye could even beat Eddie Chambers, Tony Thompson, and the like. I don't think he even deserves a shot at Wlad based on his resume at HW. He needs to fight some actual fellow contenders to see if he's even a top tier HW that deserves a shot at the real linear belt. And if you can't stand up to a 40-yr-old Carl Thompson punch, you can't stand up to a Wladimir Klitschko punch.
the main reason is that Wlad knows how to clinch and leans over his opponents. he wont allow Davoid to rabbitpunch him and without his rabbitpunching game he will never beat anyone remotely good. Wald has a china chin but its still better than Carl Thompsons though even if by some miracle Wlad gets caught once with a flush haymaker he knows how to survive and he never got KO´d by one punch. Davoids chin is very thin glass the very most likely szenario is that after the first jab landed Wlad will have to clinch to prevent Haye from falling over until Steward gets hungry and decides that Wlad should end the fight. Haye has zero inside game. Hes a outfighter like Wlad what makes it a good style matchup for Wlad because of his size. Wlads ability to control the distance, his defense tools ie his punch blocking skills using elbows to avoid hooks etc, his footwork, handspeed and devastating punching power leave zero chance of victory for Davoid. He will get annihilated by a superior fighter quicker than most think.
I know Haye beat the ATG SNV but didn't Chagaev also beat him to win the title. Only to not lose again till he faced Wlad? Shouldn't we expect the same outcome and for Haye to officially hand over the belt that is clearly Wlads.
His best wins are against Mac and Mormeck at cruiserweight and barely outpointing Valuev in one of the worst fights of the past 5 years. That's why.
I wouldn't say Haye has no chance, but he's a big underdog. People say Haye can't get around his jab. That. I disagree. Getting around Wlad's jab is easy enough...it's the clinch that follows when you do that beats you. Wlad is so big that you have two choices, stay on the outside and get jabbed, or move in close and get clinched. The refs seem to let him do it as much as he likes, so you have to take it. Haye has no inside game. And he isn't very durable either. In order to win. Haye needs to fight a perfect fight, where he stays far away, and then quickly lunges in for some big shots. It;s doable because Wlad can't punch unless set. But, it's a risky strategy, one mistake and boom! It's over. But it's the only strategy Haye can employ given his arsenal of talents. That's why he has little chance vs Wlad. Vitali is a different story... Against Vitali, I would say Haye has very close to zero chance. Wlad is predictable and fights at a slow pace. The only thing Wlad is better at then Vitali is power. Vitali may not hit as hard as Wlad; but, he hit plenty hard enough to take out Haye. Also, Vitali is more adaptable then his brother. He punches from variety of angles and he can punch on the move. Vitali can employ a high workrate and has a solid chin.
I'm not a fan boy, I'm a realist. You have Haye as a favourite to beat both Klitschkos! Based on what?
Wlad is a much bigger, stronger man, who is much more skilled, disciplined and better-conditioned than Haye. Haye would get KTFO, and likley as brutally as Peter.
