How exactly will either Klitschko add to the 800,000 PPV buys that Haye/Valuev got? Both guys were in the same position and neither budged. That's just a fact.
Are you trying to tell me that Klitschko will not contribute to the ppv sales if he fights Haye? Is that what you're saying here?
fraudley was a farce,i new it would be like a gangraping, that fraud needed shutting up,and sweet ass ppv money went to haye again, and hes now more known and popular for beating that **** joke of a pro. fighter. lol,go on defend the chisora fight then? the briggs fight?. the sosnowski fight?. the johnson fight?. defend thier performances (k bros)and say its ok to have crazy power but fight cautious and entertian so poorly america doesnt want to air you to the public!. people dont even really like the klitschkos, they just love to hate on david haye. but like people do with floyd, you will all tune in to watch him lose, and he will win again!.(floyd is ducking though for real.)
from someone who doesnt have a horse in this race, i dont think haye has done enough to demand more than the offer given. he wants to fight the most dominant heavyweight in a very long time and his resume as a heavy does not merit such high regard. take this still great offer, kick his ass, like youve been telling anyone that will listen, and then dictate terms in the rematches. who else you gonna fight?
Yes. The Valuev fight was big because it was Haye's title shot. His defining moment and chance to become a world champion. The British public bought into that. Valuev was the perfect nameless opponent because of his size, which is why the fight made so much money. Could a Klitschko bout top that? Unlikely. Like Valuev, the Klitschko's are nameless opponents. Nobody cares about them, apart from the few hardcore fans, who know of them. To everyone else, they're Eastern Bloc heavyweights and that's it. It will draw because they're world champions but it won't draw many more, I don't think. Most of the people who will buy it, will be to see Haye. A very small percentage will be bothered that it's a Klitschko who he's fighting.
James Slater, the incredibly biased writer, had this to say on the subject of ppv- Hayes last fight, against Audley Harrison, was bought by a reported 700,000 British SKY Sports subscribers. Its safe to assume, then, that a Haye-Klitschko clash - after all the hype and with everyone in the U.K so desperate to see it - would be bought by getting on for twice that many fans; all of them paying £15.00 each for the privilege. Haye - Harrison does 700,000 sales. Haye - Klitschko will do an estimated 1,400,000 sales So logic dictates that Klitschko is entitld to the extra 700,000 sales that he generated. Add to this the fact that Haye's ppv selling power will be nowhere near what it was after the Audley farce, unless of course he fights a Klitschko. Now this Slater guy was trying to defend Haye's greed in wanting to keep all the ppv money but he ended up doing the opposite.
This is a good example of the warped sense of value and entitlement that Haye and his fans seem to have. If Klitschko's name, belts and standing will double the ppv sales then he derseves his share. Why should he miss out on money he is entitled to just because the average British boxing fan is too ****ing dumb to know what they are paying for. Whether these dumb ****s know who the Klitchkos are (which by the way is a stupid view to have because Haye never stops talking **** about the K brothers, of course his fans know who they are! Haye made his name, fame and fortune off their name ffs!) is irrelevant.
Wow jack, this is one of the most idiotic posts on here I have ever read and there are some real idiots on here. You sir have just passed into the elite status of a total dumbass. Congrats
Any opponent fighting in the ring with Haye should be entitled to some of the money since the fans are going to see both fighters. A ticket holder may have bought the ticket to specifically see Haye, but the reality is there would not be an event without an opponent, so why should Haye be the only one entitled to the PPV sales? Would anyone pay for a bout between David Haye vs Thin Air? No (well maybe Haye nuthuggers on ESB). I bet you any Haye fan knows who the K bros are due to David Haye building his HW career off them. This is the number one fight they want to see.
Well Kevin Mitchell is clearly a very misinformed man, am utterly shocked at his position at the Guardian newspaper. However the journalist does not represent the British public.:deal Barely anyone even cares about boxing in the UK let alone even know the ins and outs. Sensible people know that Haye is it in for the money.
Register and Post comments setting the record straight this guy should not be Chief of anything or even get another sports journalism job ever again. Our sports press are idiotic though.
