“(I am) okay (fighting) Marquez but usually, I and Top Rank are also involved in the promotion and if they want Marquez, it’s okay with me (because) it’s an easier fight,” “They have to promote it and they just have to give us a guaranteed purse because if the promotion doesn’t make money (in the pay-per-view), they’re the ones losing money (and not us).” “Marquez…perhaps nobody would care to watch it.” “Mosley is okay, he is good and he is also a (former) champion,” Pacquiao said his remaining fights will be fought at under 150 lbs This content is protected Let's see if GBP is willing to put their money where there mouth is
I know that some people thinks that Pacman is trying to use this as an excuse to avoid Marquez. Pacman is just telling the truth that if he fight Marfquez for the third time. He would not make the amount of money that he deserved, ppv wise. So, he is being smart and asking for a guaranteed purse to make sure that he makes money weather the ppv is a success or not. I would do the same if as was Pac.
What people are failing to realise is that if Pac's next fight does under a million US PPV buys that would put the Mayweather fight in further doubt, because you can bet your house Mayweather will demand the lions share. I just read a post from a Floyd fan stating he hopes Mayweather does not begin talks again until the official Pac-Margo numbers are released. Floyd fans know the deal.
I'd be very disappointed if he fought JMM. He should clean out 140 by beating the winner of Bradley/Alexander and the winner of Khan/Maidana. Or else take out Berto.
If Pac fights Mosley, I'm officially off his bandwagon. I thought the Margo fight was a bad idea, but at least it was another guy Floyd ran from. Pac-Mosley would be a travesty. It would be a Mayweather-type move to fight Mosley, a big name, little risk moneymaker. He needs to start fighting the other top fighters or else retire. If Floyd won't fight, and you don't think you can make any money fighting Berto or Bradley and the like, then retire. There's nothing to be gained from fighting old, shot fighters.
The one thing here is that I really fail to see how a fight with a guy whose 40 years old and hasn't won a fight in 2 years is supposed to sell better then one with the best Mexican fighter and the last guy to give Pac a good run for his money? I think its funny how Manny is acting like Marquez is done and it would be an easy fight....kinda sounds similar to Ali before the thrilla in Manila....Manny isn't that much bigger then he used to be...and if you watch the 8th round of the Cotto fight you'll see he isn't as much better then he used to be then we think he is... The flip side of things is that I honestly don't believe that Mosely is done either....I really think he matches up better with Manny then he did with Either Floyd or Mora...I would be looking forward to seeing it but the difference with this fight versus Mosely's last two is that he will get knocked the **** out in this fight. Probably won't last long either. Mosely's defence is ****. But he's strong and he can bang so he might make it a bit interesting.
If Marquez camp does not accept Pac's challenge, it only means their boy is now a washed up figher trying to make a retirement money. I think this fight is meaningless. It won't improve Pac;s legacy fighting an aging hasbeen fighter. Floyd, better get out of your vacation, he should sign up now.
I wouldn't mind it at 144 or less...I wanna see Pac Berto if Andre looks good...Pac wins but I wanna see how he "technically" dealls with Bertos quicker hands
if Pac fights JMM, he should do it at 135 or a catchweight of 138. SOmething close to Marquez's fighting form. Only then would it be interesting. Sell it like a weight-jumping YoYo spectacle or something. and do it in Manila. then retire if still no floyd.
Pac has the right to up the terms when it comes to lesser fighters. The only fighter(s) that can go head on with Pac's offer is either Mayweather or Martinez. JMM has no reasonable excuse to not accept what Pac wants. He can't use the " i beat him twice " bull**** because he didn't. Besides, didn't Schaeffer already said it's either 50-50 with full osdt or no fight? Kinda like the same **** Floyd is trying to sling at people.
