Anyone else think Leonard won that fight? Don't get me wrong, there was nothing in it, but I watched it there and had them level going into the last round, which I gave to SRL

It was a good, close fight, but, with enough daylight between them,to show that Duran deserved the victory.

The fight was only close because Duran gave away the last rounds knewing he had it in the bag.

The fight of the 80's imo. Even over Hagler-Hearns.

It was a relatively close fight, but Duran dictated the fight and turned it in to his type of fight. Close but clear for Duran.

The idea that Duran coasted at the end is complete bull****. That fight was brutal trench warfare for the duration.

I'd definitely put it over Hagler v Hearns. Probably not over Arguello vs Pryor though

It appeared close but in reality it was'nt!!:nono The rounds Duran won were clear & Leonards which were few were a coin toss. There was no coasting by Duran as Natonic said as this was mayhem from the 1st bell to the last with no let up from either of them. Back then i scored rounds to Leonard just to make it respectable but having watched this fight 3 times this last year i come up with the same 10/3/2 or 10/5 for Leonard & thats generous. One fighter controlled this fight from start to finish & that was Duran.:yep

Close hard brutal tough fight as you'd expect from 2 of boxings elete but if you go watch this again for **** sake turn the volume low to drown out the shocking bias of the Leonard circus clowns that pass as a commentary team & that goes for the brit coverage by Reg "I love Leonard" Gutteridge. The 10 point system can sometimes give a distorted view of how a fight panned out either way & i had Duran a very clear winner & most folk reading about a 7 point victory would in todays age get the wrong impression that the fight was a stroll.

To many clowns on here run of the gob by quoting old ring/KO/Boxing Illustaed mgs opinions which have always been loaded in Leonards favour back in the day & have never actually watched this fight & if they did watch it & scored it by one or two in Durans favour then they no **** all about boxing or what they were watching. Close fight YES!!! but a close decision? Definetly NOT!!!:deal

I'am just waiting now for the wankers to come on here & expose themselves by saying Leonard for the wrong fight:lol:

Q.....MAG1965.......Come tell us how Leonard was a green fighter still & fought the wrong fight regardless of Leonard saying he did'nt:deal Over too you you useless ****

I have no problem at all with a 10-5 scorecard. It was trench warfare at a incredibly high intensity and skill level. The call with Ferdie Pacheco is horrendous and to be avoided if possible.

He did not coast, he just did less and that´s clearly visible IMO. And I disagree that Duran turned it into his fight. Both wanted that kind of fight.

Many a time i watched the fight way back then & found it hard to score any round such was the intensity of the battle:D I'd have hated to have been a judge ringside for that war & somehow remain detached & focused on the job in hand as we said earlier it was such a close fight but rounds are rounds & Duran def had 10 in the bag for me. But many a time i'd said to myself once i'd tallied up my scorecard "Nah" this can't be!! This is Sugar Ray Leonard & he can't be beat by this margin!! But he most definetly was IMO:yep

That Ferdie Pecheco is one 22 faced treacherous ******* ai'nt he!! He used to gush over Duran & when a new boy comes along like SRL he's drooling all over him:pukke

Pecheco's call was ridiculously biased, but with the result being what it end up being, I found the excitable nature of his call made it still an enjoyable fight to watch.

If I had watched it live with that calling, I would have been pissed off.
