Bernard Hopkins said Jermain Taylor was a harder fight for him than Joe Calzaghe

No wonder because all he did against Calzaghe was hold, grab, clinch, wrestle, and fake low blows. Hopkins did nothing and fought like John Ruiz. His performance was a disgrace because if he had fought Calzaghe straight up he would have lost 10 of 12 rounds.

 

I completely agree. Him winning using those tactics, would of done no good for boxing at all.

 

Hopkins clearly lost to JC. He wont give JC any credit cause that infamous comment "I would never let a white boy beat me" still rings round in his head and although he wont admit it, it must have been humiliating to lose to Calzaghe after he said that.

 

thats ironic because i would have thought the undisputed SMWchampion waiting until a great fighter was in his mid-40's before crossing the pond to fight him was the real "disgrace" here.

do you people really want to judge hopkins for fighting a guy like calzaghe years past his prime when the real issue is this fight should have happened years before

 

Good point. The same for Jones as he would've demolished Calzaghe in their primes. Of course, Calzaghe likes fighting fossils.

hopkins did land cleaner, but for the most part he just holds and hits, bangs the hips, and clinches every time calzaghe tries to engage which are all illegal, if it wasn't for calzaghe they might as well just have sat on their stools all night, bernard clearly won the first few rounds, the fight overall is pitiful and this is mostly b/c nard won't fight

 

hopkins fought like a little *****, all that fight exposed to us was what kind of ***** old man river really is, he learnt all those tricks like faking low blows, bending over, falling over from taps behind the head when he was in prison getting drilled by big bubbas famous 16 inch rod, but like joe calzaghe big bubba didn't give a **** about his crying he just pounded that ass anyway.

When Hopkins fought Taylor first time Hopkins had Taylor hurt and looking unsteady in the 2nd half of the fight. Against Calzaghe, Hopkins was looking for time out, and for probably the first time in his career wasnt the fighter finishing the stronger.
Calzaghe clearly beat Hopkins, clearly outlanded Hopkins, Calzaghe landed more solid shots inbetween some flapping and pressured Hopkins. Calzaghe beat Hopkins in America at a weight he hadnt fought before, with 3 American judges and Cortez as ref... And Won.
I made that fight 117-112 Calzaghe.

Hopkins lovers have to accept it, move on and live with it. Hopkins LOST to Calzaghe

Taylor was a ranged fighter with a quick right that caused Hopkins trouble. Calzaghe swarmed him. Different styles.

Hopkins couldn't maul Taylor for that reason; he didnt want to risk getting caught running in. You've got to remember the only reason Hopkins wasn't overwhelmed by Joe was he faked low blows and grabbed/mauled because of the style difference. Not really boxing is it and that is his fault.

He got bettered mentally and physically by a 'white boi' and is a ***** racist end of discussion.

 

LoL so many morons on ESB... Calzaghes victory over Hopkins still makes my smile.
