I am disappointed with the number, but then again those are only figures from US. In the Philippines, PPV should be no less than 500 K buys in my estimate. Prices were around $10 only, though that is already a lot based on the country's CPI.
Maybe in mexico. I know HBO wouldn't pay for it. but all the latin fury's and **** are PPV, so technically you can say 'julio cesar chavez is a ppv star!'
Yeah, it was a Top Rank PPV, so was Margarito vs. Shotgun Gomez. Margarito-Cintron I also was a PPV main event. It was ESPN's first and only PPV.
It was a very big fight at the time and despite all of the things I had said beforehand about Rockgloves being a slow plodder, I actually respected Rockgloves for winning and gave him serious recognition on these forums. Then he got caught loading his gloves and it all became clear and I knew I was right in my initial assessment (many years ago) of him that he is indeed a slow plodder. The difference is he used to be able to gain an unfair advantage.
U sure about that? Not saying it wasn't but I don't think it was, but I can't say for sure, I will check it out.
That's crazy. Even Cotto vs Mosley was regular HBO. Glad I didn't pay 50$ AND have to witness what happened.
It was actually kinda magical watching it live (except knowing now that he was cheating). Cotto was doing fine, doing fine, then Rockgloves just took over. I called a friend around Round 9 and told him that Cotto wasn't going to make it and that I was wrong about the Tijuana Punching Bag.
I can't recall if it's PPV or not. What I can clearly remember is, I correctly predicted that Margarito would beat Cotto...
Yeah, I know Margarito-Garcia only sold like 15k. Not sure about the others, but I imagine that didn't do well either. The ESPN PPV was only 30 bucks and they never followed up with a second one, so I guess that says it all.
