Roach pretty much comes up with the gameplan for Pac's fights and Pac follows it to a T right? If Roach gets stumped, will Pac be at a loss as to what to do? I think this is a key trait for Pac to have if he's gonna beat Floyd. thoughts?
Heart and Killer Instinct would carry Pac through. And I'm sure Roach will have Plan A, B, and C. :hi:
pac just needs to be himself and cut the ring off. Floyd won't be able to handle his offense over the long haul.
Even during the fight itself? Can Roach really get Pac to follow a completely different gameplan almost each round? it kinda looks like Roach gets a gameplan ready in advance and Pac learns it months ahead of time so when fight night comes he's more than ready. but what about an on the fly gameplan switch?
It doesn't seem like Pac follows gameplans that closely. I doubt Roach tells him to go to the ropes and let his opponent hit him or do double punches or do Ali Shuffles etc
Yeah but i think Pac does that when he knows he's in control and Roach's gameplan has worked like they thought it would. i doubt he'd do that if he wasn' t in complete control.
I think Roach will come more than sufficiently prepared strategy-wise, and Pacquiao will know how to set up traps and execute the broader gameplan. Floyd adjusts well, counter-ad******g to the strategy he puts forth will be necessary, but I don't think his counters are too hard to predict. Nacho had it right when he said you hit Mayweather more than three times, and he loses a step. He's got a good chin and has showed decent will against moments of adversity, but Pacquiao doesn't need that second to get right back in the fight. Pacquiao himself has now gained interest in studying opponents on tape, and so understands the fundamentals of playing to strengths/weaknesses well.
gotta give pac a little more credit than that though... he's been learning how to slightly adjust during the fight BUT roach does play a big part during training to implement the gameplan. roach will have a gameplan for mayweather, but it's mayweather's adjustments that he makes that will change the outcome of the fight in his favor. toughest fight for both fighters but mayweather has the edge in my opinion. :good
Good question. I think Floyd's best asset is his ability to adjust and foil his opponents successes. Sometimes it takes multiple rounds to overcome (Hatton's pressure, ODLH's jab, Zab's speed/accuracy) sometimes just one round (Mosley's offense, Gatti's heart). Personally, I think: Equalities: Pac's speed is equal to or greater than Floyds. Both are very accurate punchers. Floyd & Pac are both in extremely good condition. Pacs benefits: Pac has more power. Pac has amazing lateral movement. Pac will land fast, powerful combination punches from angles. This could win the fight for him. Floyds advantages: Amazing defense. Ability to adjust gameplans on the fly. This could win the fight for him. Potentially being able to sucker Pac into exchanges. Although I don't think Floyd has the power to KO Pac. :good Just my thoughts. :bbb
To hurt him with a counter. The punches you don't see are the ones that make the most impact on the fight outcome. Go ask Paul Williams, Ricky Hatton and everyone Bute is KO'ing with that uppercut. But I agree, he doesn't want to trade with Pac.
