Lewis was comfortably winning the first 4 rounds of the fight & rocked Rahman twice at the start of round 5, but was caught by a solid bomb while sticking his chin out & laughing at Hasim. Rahman was limited skillwise, but he had power.

Wonder what the odds were when Armstrong beat Ross.

Lets put some of these upsets int perspective:

Tyson Douglas-dominant champion loosing to ranked contender.

Louis Schmeling I-highly touted contender loosing to former lineal champion.

Lewis Ramhan I-dominant champion loosing to ranked contender.

Tyson Holyfield I-former dominant champion loosing to former lineal champion who had done better work recently.

Ali Spinks I-declining dominant champion loosing to absolute no hoper.

How big were some of these upsets in hindsight?

Certainly, the odds offered on these fights were ridiculous.

    True.

And a focused Lewis destroyed him in the rematch, which almost makes up for the loss.

It just rubs me the wrong way, that as great as Lewis was, he still has those KO losses as big blotches on a fine resume.

It's Douglas-Tyson, without question. It's the single biggest upset in the history of sports, let alone boxing, maybe next to the 1980 U.S. hockey team.

You could make some excuse for all the others. This one you can't, other tha Tyson got full of himself.

The Dempsey Flynn KO would have been regarded a relativley minor upset, because Dempsey was a nobody at the time.

Jewish fight fans in New York bet big on Ross. Ross walked into the ring as a 7 to 5 favorite against Armstrong. Boxing writers, et al. were polled and both Jews and Gentiles favored Ross by 50-36.

It was widely assumed that the master-boxer would tame the smaller man. And contrary to a long-held myth, Ross did not suddenly "age" in the fight. He was in his prime at 28. Armstrong's style was hellish and wore him out. Ross was doing beautifully at first in dealing with that Hurricane, but simply could not maintain the pace.

Tyson was 100% PEAK/PRIME And ripped-as-**** as proof of his Xtreme training.

Tysons' v.predictable VERATED famous head-movement failed every round, cos Douglas was timing teh **** outta it with his jab.

Douglas used Lateral-movements to make teh famous combo-punching what Tyson was doing Loads of Miss lots And countering with his own combos what looked better then Tysons' overated fancy stuff.

IMO this ****ing minter of a fight is Proof Lennox would of always BRUTALISED Tyson [cos he have better jab] And it would be always a mismatch like boxing-Xpert Maxi-Kellermen says.
