Lets just see what pans out now, allot of arguments going around in circles, what it comes down too in the end is the better man on the night. It is going to be a war that is one thing for sure! Best of luck to both Boxers, whoever wins, whoever loses, boxing is the winner, a great match up with contrasting styles.

Ive been looking at this a bit.

JMM has not fought anyone with this type of Power since Pacman.

And we know he got back up the floor 4 times in those fights.

So i feel Katsidis is a chance.

Also for the fans that missed the Kat v Mitchell fight.

I had not heard that type of hard punching in a small guy for ages.

They were Thuds that were hitting Mitchell.

Listen for yourself. Turn it right up.

I doubt JMM will lose to someone who was KO'ed by Casa, and lost a decision to Juan Diaz.

2 fighters, btw, that JMM KTFO!

I agree that JMM is the favorite and more than likely will win.

Im just stating that Katsidis has improved and I hope for Australian Boxing and for the death of his brother that Katsidis wins.

Love Katsidis and eerything about him is great for our sport.

    Hope he wins.

I feel he has improved since the Diaz and Casa fights.

Why would I be? He KO'd Mitchell in 3 rounds, a fight in which he was a slight underdog in, and if he actually did "KO JMM, Martinez style :admin" a fight in which nobody is giving him much a chance and is a 4/1 (might be 3/1 now) but still a nice sized underdog. So, no i'm not joking as him being a "strong candidate for Fighter of the Year." Let's just list all the fighters still in the running shall we?

Sergio Martinez- UD Pavlik, KO2 PTP

Jean Pascal- UD Dawson (and still has a fight against B-Hop in December)

JuanMa- TKO7 Luevano, KO2 Concepcion, KO8 Rafa Marquez

Toshiaki Nishioka- TKO5 Bangoyan, UD12 Munroe

Gio Segura- TKO3 Tello, KO4 Ramos, KO8 Calderon, (ans still has a fight against Manuel Vargas this Saturday)

Pongsaklek Wonjongkam- UD12 Kameda, KO1 Migrino, UD12 Por Chokchai

Manny Pacquiao- UD12 Clottey, UD12 Margarito

    WV2- KO4 Sonsona, TKO10 Bedak, TKO11 Hernandez

So, with all that said I think a resume like this:

Katsidis- KO3 Mitchell, KO2 JMM (doesn't even have to be a KO, just a win)

So, with a resume like that Katsidis should at the very least get consideration. I'm not saying he should win it or will win it, but just some consideration.

It will only happen if Marquez really is on the slide. If Marquez has still got a few big wins in him he will beat Katsidis. He is just the better fighter all round.

Katsidis has a punchers chance but its a fairly small window of opportunity, he will have to be ruthless.

I'd favour JMM to stop him in the late rounds (purely because Katsidis will bring the heat, and JMM will counter him pretty viciously in return). The biggest worry is Katsidis leans over his front foot more than almost anyone in the business, and Marquez has the best uppercut in the business. I see him getting timed with some big shots, he will need to show a lot of guts to weather Marquez shots and land a hurtful one of his own.

Marquez can be hit though and he was hurt by the light punching Diaz, so it isn't a total pipedream.

The whole brother dying RIP and with all respect is not something that motivates a fighter... It's not like the opposite opponent killed his brother if anything that actually was a distraction and mental drainer then anything for his camp and can affect his performance.

What does motivate a fighter is what JMM has been dying to get... a 3rd fight with pac looms in the air,$$$ to retire looms in the air... all that he must do is something SPECTACULAR against KAT to get that match he has been dying for to finally close that chapter... and get a nice payday and retire.... Expect MARQUEZ to be at 120% he is the more motivated fighter.

    WARRR MARQUEZ

    KO KATS like DIAZ....

Most British bookies had Mitchell favourite, Katsidis was 6/4 on Betfair just before the bell.

Only had £30 on it though :-(

Anyone who understands bookmaking though knows that isn't an assessment of the two fighters, just a reflection of the market.

Is there much relevance in saying that Katsidis was underdog on the basis that more West Ham fans who hadn't really heard of him wanted to bet on Mitchell?

Well, let's see we got Katsidis at 6/5, Mitchell at 8/13. Aussie book had Katsidis +210, Mitchell -350, we got a boxing site predicting Mitchell to win by UD or even forcing stoppage late. We got another site that predicted Mitchell by UD. This other site predicted by SD. The Ring predicted a 10th round stoppage in favor of Mitchell, and it seems that the majority of people on Kirk's ESB favored Mitchell, slightly. A poll on ESB about oh about 62/38 in favor of Mitchell. I just watched 5 vids on youtube 4 of which picked Mitchell to win, only one picked Katsidis. So, there you go. If you picked Katsidis good for you....because most people didn't.

You ain't gonner becum less stoopid by posting more and more rubbish.

You knead too post less and reid others' posts mhore, Niggel.

Of course JMM can beat him. He got da skillz!

But... of course, JMM is on the decline and if he's too far gone, Katsidis, for all his crudeness, can beat him by force of will alone. I'm worried too, for JMM - his fight against Diaz was not reassuring... and Katsidis is better than Diaz...
