I don't want to see Manny fight another guy who has to be weakened for Manny to win another bogus title. The title Martinez has is not bogus, but if he is weakened then he is not the guy who won the title which makes the win tainted. Leonard did this in the 1980's. And Hearns came up and said boxing is bigger than Ray Leonard to dictate what everyone will weigh and everything else. Well it is bigger than Manny also, who is a great fighter, but why give him belts.
Definitely for sure. It wasn't that long ago Sergio was fighting at 154. This is the chance of a lifetime for him. He might get abit drained, but at least he's still at his prime. Pacquiao or Mayweather are the fights every top fighter 140-154 dream of. Sergio definitely deserves it more than any other.
Fighting for Pacs LMW title would be fine. But i hope they dont throw the 160 pound MW title out there with it.
Martinez should not be drained at 154. He's fought there almost his entire career. He said he felt great at 156 and he was far over that with only a couple weeks left before the fight. For this megafight he should be able to focus and prepare better. Margarito weighs the same on fight night and comfortably made 150 weigh in . It should definitely be for Manny's LMW title though unless they want to make it at 156.
I think this a bit of a stretch for Pac. Lets also not forget that Martinez just the other day stated that Pac was too small for him.
